Colombo Strikers had a great outing in the last season. They finished at the 3rd spot on the table and were part of the Final match of the LPL 2022.

In the Colombo camp this year, we will see the inclusion of four popular Pakistani players - Babar Azam, Wahab Riaz, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Nawaz and Iftikhar Ahmed. Irish wicketkeeper batsman Lorcan Tucker has also been roped in.

Pathum Nissanka scored 229 runs in the 2022 edition while he was playing for B-Love Kandy. He will be part of the Colombo Strikers team this year. Babar Azam, Mohammad Nawaz and Naseem Shah will power up the Colombo Strikers camp this year and can make them a potential team to lift up the LPL trophy this year.

Dambulla Aura had a poor season in the LPL 2022. They finished last on the table and could not qualify for the playoffs.

We will see Matthew Wade, Lungi Ngidi, Hayden Kerr, Shahnawaz Dahani lighting up the Dambulla squad this season. Noor Ahmed will be a key spinner for the team. He picked 3 wickets in the last season for the same team but we saw his fine form in the IPL 2023 where he picked 16 wickets in 13 matches for GT side.

Kusal Mendis scored 260 runs in 9 innings in the last season and he has been transferred to Dambulla Aura from B-Love Kandy. Other than him, Dambulla has got the top two run scorers of the 2022 edition - Avishka Fernando and Sadeera Samarawickrama. We can say this is one of the strongest batting line-ups in the LPL 2023.

Galle Titans, earlier known as Galle Gladiators, was the runner-up team in the first two seasons. In the 2022 edition, they finished at the 4th spot on the table with 2 wins in 8 matches. Galle was defeated by Colombo in the Eliminator match.

For the upcoming season, they have roped in Bangladesh star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and he is all set to strengthen the side. Sri Lankan white-ball captain Dasun Shanaka will be another strong all-rounder in this side.

Kasun Rajitha was the 3rd leading wicket taker in the last season with 13 wickets in 8 matches with an economy of 6.30. Lahiru Kumara will support him in the pace attack while in the spin department there will be South African spinner Tabraiz Shamsi and Lankan bowler Akila Dananjaya.

Titans have picked New Zealand batsman Chad Bowes for $58,000 in the auction and he became the most expensive overseas player. He will be a key player in the Titans’ batting line-up.

Jaffna Kings are the reigning champions of the Lanka Premier League since its first season in 2020. They have remained undefeated in the finals of all three seasons so far.

In the LPL 2023 season, we will see South African power-hitter David Miller joining the league with Jaffna team. Sri Lankan batsman Charith Asalanka will be a key player in the Jaffna team batting department. He scored 242 runs in 11 innings in the 2022 season while playing for Colombo Stars team.

The bowling unit of the Jaffna Kings is equipped with quality T20 bowlers like Maheesh Theekshana, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth and Nuwan Thushara. Thushara and Viyaskanth were among the top 5 wicket takers in the previous season of Lanka Premier League.

Among the new entrants, we have Pakistani all-rounder Shoaib Malik, Aussie opener Chris Lynn and Pakistani pacer Zaman Khan.

Kandy Falcons will now be called B-Love Kandy as it is now owned by B-Love Network which is led by Omar Khan. Sri Lankan all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga is the captain of the Kandy team. He is currently among the top 5 T20I bowlers and all-rounders in the ICC rankings.

In LPL 2022, B-Love Kandy finished at the 1st position on the table with just 1 loss in 8 matches but they lost to Colombo Strikers in the 2nd qualifier match.

They have roped in Afghan spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman and Pakistani players Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Hasnain, Mohammad Haris, Asif Ali and Aamer Jamal.

Dushmantha Chameera will beef up the bowling department which is equipped with Nuwan Pradeep, Mohammad Hasnain, Isuru Udana, Mujeeb and Hasaranga.

Coming to the batting line-up, Kandy team has recruited Pakistani hitter Fakhar Zaman and he will accompany Angelo Mathews, Dinesh Chandimal, Kamindu Mendis. Mathews and Chandimal were among the top run scorers of the season in 2022 and they were representing the Colombo Stars team.
