Barbados Royals will take on Trinbago Knight Riders in the second semi-final of the Men’s 6ixty. This game will be played at Warner Park Sporting Complex, Basseterre Muscat starting at 12:30 local time on Sunday 28th August.
Barbados Royals won their first and last group games and finished in second place of the Men’s 6ixty with a net-run-rate of 1.030. Both of their victories were narrow wins, opening their campaign with a three wicket win over Trinbago Knight Riders and finishing with a two wicket victory against Guyana Amazon Warriors. In between, they went down to a heavy 41 run defeat to Jamaica Tallawahs after conceding 162-3, the highest total seen so far in the competition. For the Royals, captain Kyle Mayers top scored against the Warriors on Saturday with 31 runs from 16 balls after 20 year old left-arm pacer Ramon Simmonds had taken 2-9 from his two overs.
Trinbago Knight Riders ended the group stage in third place and as one of three sides, alongside Jamaica Tallawahs and Barbados Royals, to win two of their three matches. They began the campaign in disappointing fashion by being bowled out for only 76 against Barbados Royals and losing the game by three wickets with 3.3 overs remaining. However, they then won their last two matches, against Guyana Amazon Warriors, by 47 runs, and against St Kitts & Nevis Patriots by three runs. Andre Russell hit 72 runs from 24 balls in the final group stage match and included eight sixes in his innings. The Knight Riders come into the semi-final targeting their third successive win of the tournament.
