Jamaica Tallawahs are favourites to win
Barbados Royals will take on Jamaica Tallawahs in Match 6 of the Men’s 6ixty. The game will be played at Warner Park Sporting Complex, Basseterre starting at 17:30 local time on Friday 26th August.
Barbados Royals beat Trinbago Riders by three wickets with 21 balls remaining in Thursday's evening match under the lights in Basseterre. It was a fine performance in the field which built the foundation for the victory before the batters took the team home with plenty of balls to spare. With the ball in hand, South Africa’s Corbin Bosch was the leader of the attack. Bosch opened the bowling and took 1-12 from 1.5 overs, he was well supported by all of the other six bowlers used. With the bat, Bosch hit 42 runs from 23 balls and was well supported by Ireland’s Harry Tector who made 16 not out from six balls.
Jamaica Tallawahs had the largest victory on the first day of action in the Men’s 6ixty, beating St Kitts & Nevis Patriots by 55 runs. This was all in spite of the Tallawahs openers contributing only eight runs and hitting only one boundary at the top of the order. However, captain Rovman Powell at number three, Fabian Allen at number four and Raymon Reifer at number five were able to take the innings forward at a quick rate. Allen scored 45 runs from 18 balls, hitting five sixes and two fours, and shared an 80-run partnership with Reifer. Defending 139, South Africa’s Migael Pretorius impressed with figures of 2-9 from 1.2 overs.
The match will be played at Warner Park Sporting Complex, Basseterre. Although the surface is batter friendly, pace bowlers and spinners can get rewards if they put the ball in the right place.
