Opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy scored a century on the recent tour of South Africa and is our tip for Bangladesh’s highest run scorer against Sri Lanka. With the ball, Shakib Al Hasan has 215 Test wickets and we expect him to be the home sides’ top wicket taker in this Test.
Skipper Dimuth Karunaratne has been in excellent form with the bat in this format over the past 18 months. He is our pick for Sri Lanka’s highest run scorer against Bangladesh. Lasith Embuldeniya is a very dangerous bowler on any surface and he is a strong choice for Sri Lanka’s top wicket taker in Chittagong.
As he is capable of winning a game with both bat and ball, we are predicting Shakib Al Hasan to take the Player of the Match Award.

Bangladesh host Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series beginning on May 15 at the Zohur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. The Test begins at 10:00 local time.
Bangladesh have not won a home Test since February 2020 when they beat the touring Zimbabweans. However, home advantage is big in Test cricket and they will go into this game as favourites.
Sri Lanka are under new management with Mickey Arthur departing and former England coach Chris Silverwood taking over. They will be confident of being competitive in this fixture.

The home side will definitely be without Mehidy Hasan Miraz who has a finger injury but may return for the second Test of the series. Also missing will be the injured pace bowler Taskin Ahmed. Shakib Al Hasan is expected to replace Hasan in the line-up for this game.
BAN Key Players

Shakib Al Hasan- widely recognised as one of the best all-format all-rounders in the world. Bangladesh are simply a far better side with him in their team.
BAN Team Form
Bangladesh have struggled in Test matches in recent times and, apart from a very surprising win in New Zealand earlier this year, have lost five of their last six games in this format.

Sri Lanka will be without impressive young batter Pathum Nissanka who is injured and Lahiru Thirimanne who is on paternity leave for three months. Although pace bowler, Suranga Lakmal, retired after the tour of India, Sri Lanka still have a good core of experienced players.
SL Key Players
Dimuth Karunaratne- the skipper and opening batter has been playing for Yorkshire in the County Championship in the weeks ahead of this series. He has scored 14 Test centuries.
Angleo Mathews- the 34 year old has been a mainstay of Sri Lanka’s team across all formats for many years. He averages 44.05 in Test cricket with a top score of 200 not-out.
Lasith Embuldeniya- the slow left-arm spinner has picked up 70 wickets in Test cricket from only 15 games. He has gone wicketless in only two out of 26 innings and they were in his second and third Tests.
SL Team Form
Sri Lanka were well beaten by India in their last two Tests but had been picking up some good results in this format prior to that tour.
This will be the first glimpse of Test cricket since mid-April and we have two well matched sides who will go head to head. Sri Lanka have the ability to beat any side on their day but they will not be at full strength for this game. Overall, we think home advantage will be crucial and are predicting a victory for Bangladesh.
Bangladesh are favourites to beat Sri Lanka at odds of 2.75
