AUS vs PAK 3rd Test Match Prediction & Betting Tips
The third and final Test between Australia and Pakistan gets underway in Sydney on Wednesday with the hosts already holding an unassailable 2-0 lead. Australia won the first Test by 360 runs in Perth before again emerging with the win in a closer contest in Melbourne last week. Read on as we preview this New Year’s Test. The game gets underway at the Sydney Cricket Ground at 10:30 local time.
Although the margin of victory was much smaller in the second Test of the series, Australia were on top throughout the game and looked comfortable except for a short period in the fourth innings. It would be a surprise if Australia were unable to complete a 3-0 series win.
The Pakistan squad will have left Melbourne with genuine disappointment that they were unable to turn a position of 219/5 when chasing 317 to win into a victory. However, their level of performance was so much better than in Perth that they will travel to Sydney believing they could get a win.

AUS vs PAK Match Toss Prediction
Although the pitch is unlikely to deteriorate a huge amount over the five days, the first two days will be the best for batting so we predict that both skippers will choose to bat first.
AUS vs PAK Pitch Report
Four of the last five and six of the last nine Tests in Sydney have ended in a draw and we can expect another batter friendly surface for this game. A par score in the first innings will be over 450.

Australia Team News & Playing 11
AUS Team News
An unchanged XI was announced by Pat Cummins at the toss in Melbourne and few pundits are expecting any new faces in the team for this match. Although there is always a temptation to play an additional spinner in Sydney, Australia’s pace attack have been in excellent form.
AUS Key Players
- David Warner- the left-hander has batted in over 203 Test innings but is still a force to be reckoned with after hitting over 200 runs so far in the series.
- Mitchell Marsh- the powerful all-rounder has become a vital part of the middle order for Australia and is yet to make a score of under 41 across his four innings in Perth and Melbourne.
- Nathan Lyon- the right-arm off-spinner went wicketless in the second innings in Melbourne but took 4/73 in the first innings and has nine wickets across the series.
- Pat Cummins- the Australian skipper has now taken 252 wickets in Test cricket including 11x five-wicket hauls and 2x ten-wicket hauls.
AUS Team Form
After victories in Perth and in Melbourne already in this series, Australia are targeting their third successive Test win.

Pakistan Team News & Playing 11
PAK Team News
There will be at least two changes to Pakistan’s XI for this final Test of the series which sees vice-captain and opening bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi rested and 21 year old left-handed opening batter Saim Ayub make his debut. Imam-ul-Haq will make way for Ayub.
PAK Key Players
- Babar Azam- the right-hander is yet to make a half-century in this series but with an average of 46.37 from 92 Test innings, a big score will not be far away.
- Shan Masood- the 34 year old captain has now made 13 scores of 50+ in Test cricket and he will look to lead by example with the bat again in this Test.
- Aamer Jamal- with Shaheen Shah Afridi not playing in this Test, the 27 year old will take on additional responsibility in Sydney. He has dismissed Travis Head twice and Pat Cummins three times in the series so far.
- Mir Hamza- the left-arm medium pacer took six wickets across the MCG Test including dismissing David Warner, Travis Head, Mitchell Marsh and Alex Carey in the second innings.
PAK Team Form
Pakistan had won successive Test Matches before their poor performance with both bat and ball in Perth.
Pakistan Predicted Playing 11
Abdullah Shafique, Saim Ayub, Shan Masood (c), Sajid Khan, Babar Azam, Saud Shakeel, Sarfaraz Ahmed (wk), Agha Salman, Hasan Ali, Aamer Jamal, Mir Hamza
