Asia Lions are favorites to win
Asia Lions will take on India Maharajas at the Asian Town Cricket Stadium. The Eliminator of the 2023 Legends League Masters begins at 17:30 local time on Saturday 18th March.
After losing to World Giants on Thursday, Asia Lions had to settle for playing in this Eliminator fixture as opposed to qualifying straight for Monday’s final. During the group stage, World Giants won two and lost two and were prevented from finishing top due to net-run-rate.
After Misbah-Ul-Haq top scored for Asia Lions in the first two games, there has been a new top scorer for the side in the remaining two group stage formats. Upul Tharanga hit 69 runs from 48 balls in the last clash with India Maharajas and he will be looking forward to facing the same bowling attack.
It was a disappointing bowling performance from Asia Lions in their final group stage game against World Giants. Although they restricted World Giants to 150 they only took three wickets and they will be looking to be far more dangerous with the ball in this match.
Asia Lions won their first two games of the tournament but come into this match after successive defeats.
Whilst the other two teams fought it out for the automatic place in Monday’s final on Thursday, India Maharajas were able to watch the match knowing that they would be back in action in this Eliminator. They beat Asia Lions in their last head to head and will be confident of beating them again.
It was Suresh Raina who top scored for India Maharajas in Wednesday’s defeat to World Giants as captain Gautam Gambhir sat out the match. Gambhir had hit half-centuries in the first three games which had led to fans of the IPL calling for him to come back and play in that competition.
As is often the way in this tournament, the wickets were shared around by India Maharajas in their last game. Of their six man bowling attack, only the opening bowler Irfan Pathan went wicketless with Yusuf Pathan picking up two dismissals.
India Maharajas have won only one of their four matches in this year’s tournament.
The match will be played at the Asian Town Cricket Stadium, Doha. A par score will be no higher than 150 on a pitch which is offering plenty of help to the quick bowlers.

The play-offs are always exciting in any tournament and in the Legends League it is as simple as if you win you are into the final whereas a defeat means out of the competition. We are expecting a close game on a pitch which will not be overly easy for batting. We think that Asia Lions have the stronger batting line-up and are backing them to win the match.
