Afghanistan are favorites to win
Afghanistan registered a comfortable five-wicket win over Ireland in the first one-day international to go 1-0 up in the five-match series. The pitch at this ground is likely to slow down as the match progresses and with not much dew expected later in the evening, the team that wins the toss in this match may want to bat first.

Afghanistan, after having secured a comfortable victory in the first ODI, are unlikely to make changes to their side for the second game. Hazratullah Zazai and Mohammad Shahzad will continue to open the batting while Gulbadin Naib and skipper Asghar Afghan will bat in the middle order. The hosts could once again open the bowling with Dawlat Zadran and Mujeeb Ur Rahman.
The opening pair of Mohammad Shahzad and Hazratullah Zazai along with Gulbadin Naib and Mohammad Nabi form the core of Afghanistan's batting. Shahzad is the team's leading run-getter in ODIs while Hazratullah showed what he is capable of in the T20I series. Naib top-scored with 46 in the first ODI and he together with Nabi bring stability in the middle order. The latter is one of the best white-ball bowlers for Afghanistan and he will be expected to keep things tight in the middle overs. Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan troubled the Irish batsmen last time and the duo will once again look to make life difficult for them at the crease. Mujeeb returned extraordinary figures of 3-14 from ten overs and he is likely to have a good outing on Saturday.
Afghanistan have being doing pretty well in the game's fifty-over format. They have now won four, lost two and tied one of their last seven one-day internationals. The hosts were outstanding with the ball in the first game of the ongoing series as they knocked Ireland out for just 161.

Ireland do not have any injury issues to deal with heading into the second one-day international and we expect them to come up with an unchanged line-up despite facing defeat in the series opener.
Paul Stirling waged a lone battle in the last game where he scored a gritty 89 and saved Ireland from embarrassment. The team will be counting on him and his opening partner William Porterfield to take them off to a good start in the second ODI. Kevin O'Brien has not looked at his best on this tour and it will be crucial that he makes a healthy contribution in the middle order. Boyd Rankin, George Dockrell and Tim Murtagh are Ireland's key men with the ball. Rankin and Dockrell are two of the team's leading wicket-takers in ODIs and both these bowlers will be expected to be at their best on Saturday. Rankin was the pick of the bowlers last time with 2-48 from nine overs and he will be the main threat for Afghanistan with the new ball.
Ireland have not been very consistent in their performances as far as ODI cricket is concerned. The five-wicket loss in the opening match of this series was their fourth defeat in their last five one-day internationals. Their batsmen let them down the other day but their bowlers did well to give Afghanistan a little scare by reducing them to 104-4 in the 32nd over.

Afghanistan and Ireland have now played 21 one-day internationals against each other with the former leading the scoreline 11-10.
Afghanistan have now won four of the last five matches (including the most recent two) they have played against Ireland in the game's fifty-over format.
Matches Played: 21; Afghanistan Won: 11; Ireland Won: 10
Afghanistan are overwhelming favorites to win the second one-day international at extremely short odds of 1.17 with Betfair and 1.12 with both Betway and Bet365. Ireland, in contrast, are the underdogs at a much higher price of 5.50 with Betway, 6 with Bet365 and 6.40 with Betfair.
Ireland have played four games on this tour so far and they are still searching for their first success. They have been dominated by Afghanistan every time and are looking down and out at the moment. The visitors have not done much wrong with the ball but their batsmen have simply not been able to adjust to these conditions and have been succumbing to the Afghan spinners. The hosts are brimming with confidence and it is hard to see them go down to Ireland unless the Irish can turn things around with the bat. Momentum is with Afghanistan and we expect them to keep Ireland waiting for their first win.
