Date | 19th October 2022 |
Time | 1:30 PM IST, 8:00 AM GMT, 7:00 PM LOCAL |
Venue | Bellerive Oval, Hobart |
West Indies will take on Zimbabwe in the 8th match of the T20 World Cup. West Indies suffered a shock loss to Scotland in the first match and thus this game is a must-win for them as a loss will kick them out of the tournament.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe delivered a strong show against Ireland and won the game by 31 runs. Sikandar Raza was the star of the game as he whacked 82 off 48 balls to help Zimbabwe reach 174/7. Later, a solid show by the bowlers restricted Ireland to 143-9.
The wickets have been good cricketing surfaces. The bowlers have got the pace and bounce to work with, while the same pace and bounce works to the batter’s advantage if the bowler errs in line as the ball flies off the bat.
The temperatures will be around 8-10 degrees during the day which can be challenging for the players. However, rain is not much of a threat.

West Indies and Zimbabwe have not played a lot of T20Is against each other which is surprising. They have met on three occasions and West Indies have won two of them.

Mayers has been in great form for West Indies in recent times. He has been consistent at the top and has played many match-winning innings for the team. He delivered top performance in the CPL as well. He has scored 369 runs for West Indies in 2022 so far. Given that he is also a very handy bowler, he is a great pick for us.
Sikandar Raza is one of the best batters in the Zimbabwe team and has carried the team’s burden ably. Raza scored 82 runs in the last game and helped Zimbabwe post 174 which was enough for them to beat Ireland.
Brandon King is also a match-winner on his day. While he can be inconsistent at times, there is no denying the fact that he is one of the most explosive batters going around. He has scored 418 runs in 17 matches this year for West Indies.
Jason Holder has been remarkable for West Indies. He does everything a team needs of him. He scores quick runs, bowls with the new ball, and old ball, he is electric in the field, a true team man and a match-winner. In the last game, Holder picked 2 wickets for 14 runs and also scored 38 runs.
Blessing Muzarabani was awarded an IPL contract this year which is enough to prove that he has the skills to compete with the best. Muzarabani has been in fine form for Zimbabwe and was brilliant in the last game as well. He picked up 3 wickets for 23 runs against Ireland.
