India will begin their World Cup preparations with a three-match ODI series against West Indies. The team has a full-strength squad at their disposal and will look to gain momentum ahead of the Asia Cup and World Cup.
West Indies, on the other hand, will look to start fresh after a horrible show in the World Cup qualifiers in Zimbabwe. The two-time World Champions had a poor outing and failed to qualify for the gala event for the first time in history. Ahead of the ODI series, the two teams played the two-match Test series, with India dominating and winning the series 1-0.
The pitch will be flat and tailor-made for high-scoring match. A score of 280-300 should be just par on the wicket. The new ball may swing early on while spinners will also get some help in middle overs. However, a set batter should be able to milk runs easily.
The conditions are gloomy with more than a 50 per cent chance of rain. The first innings should go without any interruption and rain is likely to come in the second innings so the team winning the toss should prefer chasing.
Brandon King, Kyle Mayers, Keacy Carty, Shai Hope (C & wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Rovman Powell, Romario Shepherd, Kevin Sinclair, Alzarri Joseph, Oshane Thomas, Jayden Seales/Yannic Cariah
Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Ishan Kishan/Sanju Samson (wk), Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Umran Malik, Shardul Thakur, Jaydev Unadkat/Mukesh Kumar
Mohammad Siraj has flown back home and won’t be available for the ODI series. West Indies, on the other hand, will be without Nicholas Pooran and Jason Holder.
Both teams share a long rivalry in ODI cricket. West Indies dominated India in the late 90s but in the last decade, it has been all India.

Virat Kohli is a modern-day great and one of the best in this format. Kohli has been in great form in recent year or so, scoring ODI centuries against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, Test Centuries against Australia and West Indies and two IPL hundreds as well.
Rohit Sharma is also a great ODI batter. Someone who has three double tons in the format needs to introduction. Rohit had a good outing in the Test series and scored 103 in the first game while backing it up with 80 in the second game.
Jadeja brings a lot of value to the team. He has been in top form with the bat in the recent few years while his left arm spin is very tricky to face. Jadeja is a genuine match-winner for Team India.
Shimron Hetmyer has been recalled to the ODI team after being ignored for the World Cup qualifiers. Hetmyer boast of a great ODI record. He has an average of over 45 in ODIs and a strike rate of over 121. True credentials of a game-changer.
Alzarri Joseph enjoys a great record against two of India’s best batters, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, dismissing the duo three times each. If he can knock off the two batters cheaply, West Indies will be in with a chance.
