Date | 8th September 2022 |
Time | 4:30 AM IST, 11:00 PM GMT, 7:PM LOCAL |
Venue | Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, St. Lucia |
St. Lucia Kings have had a poor start to the tournament and have lost both the games they have played. However, both games were close games and could have gone either way. In the first game, they lost Trinbago Knight Riders by 3 wickets which was followed by a loss to Barbados Royals by 11 runs. The main reason for these losses was lack of runs from the batters. The team could only score 143 in the first match, and lost 4 wickets for 91 runs when the rain stopped their second game against Barbados.
Meanwhile, Jamaica Tallawahs have been brilliant so far, winning both the games they have played. They picked up a big 47-run win over St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the first game before beating Guyana Amazon Warriors by 4 wickets in the second game.
The surface in St. Kitts will be a good one to bat. Barring the first couple of overs, the ball shouldn’t do much. Spinners may come into play in the second half of the second innings.
The temperature will range between 32-26 degrees. There is a 60 per cent chance of rain on match day but the percentage dips to 30 per cent during game time.
Johnson Charles (wk), Faf du Plessis (c), Mark Deyal, Roston Chase, Roshon Primus, Tim David, David Wiese, Scott Kuggeleijn, Alzarri Joseph, Jeavor Royal, Preston McSween
Brandon King, Kennar Lewis, Shamarh Brooks, Amir Jangoo (wk), Rovman Powell (c), Fabian Allen, Imad Wasim, Chris Green, Mohammad Amir, Migael Pretorius, Nicholson Gordon
Despite losing both the games, St. Lucia Kings should play the same team while Jamaica is likely to retain the same playing 11 as well.

Branon Kings has had two good outings in the CPL so far. He scored a fiery 89 in the first game and then backed it up with another good knock of 32 against Guyana. He is in red hot form at the moment and is a wonderful player to have in the team.
Rovman Powell is another player who has looked good in both games for Jamaica. He scored 30 off 15 balls in the first match and then backed it up with 44 against Guyana. He is yet to be dismissed in the tournament.
He is a key player in the St. Lucia Kings teams. The team doesn’t have a very strong batting and it mostly relies on Faf and Johnson Charles. Faf had a good outing against Barbados Royals and played a brilliant inning of 47 off just 20 balls before the match was stopped due to rain.
Joseph is a good wicket-taking option for St. Lucia Kings. He is also a decent hitter of a cricket ball. In the last game against Barbados, he scored 28 runs in 18 balls and also picked up the wickets of Rahkeem Cornwall and Harry Tector.
Mohammad Amir won the player of the match award for Jamaica against Guyana after his sensational spell of 3 for 22. Amir with the new ball can do some serious damage and Jamaica will expect another good performance from him.
