St. Lucia Kings vs Guyana Amazon Warriors Match 13 CPL | |
---|---|
Date | 11th September 2022 |
Time | 4:30 AM IST, 11:00 PM GMT, 7:00 PM LOCAL |
Venue | Darren Sammy Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St. Lucia |
Both teams have had a poor start to the tournament and are placed at the bottom of the points table. St. Lucia Kings have played four games and lost three while Guyana Amazon Warriors have played three and lost two.
Nothing has gone right for St. Lucia Kings so far. They have failed to put on a collective show so far. Johnson Charles and Tim David have played a couple of cameos but as a team, they have been a big let-down. The same is the case with their bowling with no one apart from Alzarri Joseph doing well.
Meanwhile, Guyana have also been poor as a team. Despite having match winners like Paul Stirling, Shimron Hetmyer, and Tabraiz Shamsi, they have not been able to make an impact so far.
The wicket will be a good one to bat, but pacers with the new ball and spinners once the ball gets soft, can trouble the batters.
The weather will be slightly cloudy with around a 30 per cent chance of rain. The temperature will range between 26 to 32 degrees.
Johnson Charles, Niroshan Dickwella (wk), Faf du Plessis (c), Mark Deyal, Ackeem Auguste, Roston Chase, Tim David, Roshon Primus/Kesrick Williams, David Wiese, Alzarri Joseph, Scott Kuggeleijn
Paul Stirling, Chandrapaul Hemraj, Shai Hope/Colin Ingram, Shimron Hetmyer (c), Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Romario Shepherd, Odean Smith, Keemo Paul, Gudakesh Motie, Imran Tahir, Tabraiz Shamsi
Given the poor show, both teams might want to change their combination. Kings might give Kesrick Williams a game while Guyana might want Colin Ingram back in the team.

We have massive trust in the skills of Faf du Plessis. He is someone who can play big 100+ knocks in T20 format. While he has been off-colour so far in the tournament, we feel a big knock is around the corner.
Charles scored a match-winning half-century, against Jamaica Tallawahs. He is someone who will not be consistent, but he is the best that St. Lucia have got. We don’t expect consistency from Charles, but we know that he is a match-winner on his day. Since fantasy runs on luck, we are putting our bet on Charles to come good in the coming game.
Hetmyer gave glimpses of a return to form and played a crisp inning of 46 off 21 balls in the last game against Patriots. This is what Hetmyer can do on his day and we hope that this innings help him get over his lean patch and that he scores even bigger runs in the games to come.
Tabraiz Shamsi is a very good spinner in this format of the game. He was the no 1 T20I bowler for a long time which shows that he has tremendous skills to succeed in T20s. Given that pitches might help spinners, Shamsi is a key player for Guyana.
Joseph has been a lone warrior for St. Lucia Kings in the tournament. He is the highest wicket-taker of CPL 2022 and has taken 10 wickets in just 3 games. He is a very good pick given his form.
