As expected, New Zealand were too good for the land and won the 1st T20I by 68 runs. Batting first, a blazing century by Finn Allen and vital contributions from other batters helped New Zealand post a mammoth 225-5 before the bowlers restricted Scotland to 157-8 to wrap up a comprehensive win.
New Zealand look a very intimidating team at the moment and Scotland will have to punch above their weight if they are to compete with this New Zealand team.
New Zealand posted 225 on the same pitch thus it goes without saying that it is a very good wicket to bat and batters will dominate the bowlers here.
The weather is not very promising as there is rain predicted for the next seven days. However, the good news is that there is only a 30 per cent chance of rain on the match day, unlike other days where the chances are as high as 90 per cent.
Ollie Haris, George Munsey, Richie Berrington (C), Michael Leask, Calum MacLeod, Matthew Cross, Chris Greaves, Safyaan Sharif, Mark Wyatt, Hamza Tahir, Chris Sole

Both teams won’t be keen on making changes to the combination after just one game. New Zealand may give other players a chance in the final T20I if they win the second game.

Martin Guptill has got so many starts in recent times, but he gets out just when he is about to take off. However, the 30s and 40s are still decent scores and it is just a matter of time when he plays a real big knock.
Finn Allen scored a blazing century in the first match. He scored 101 runs in just 56 balls with 8 fours and 6 sixes. He will be eyeing another decent outing in the next game.
He looked good in the last game and played a handy inning of 33 off 24 balls. He needs to better his performance and give Scotland a good start against the Kiwi bowlers. A solid knock from him will set Scotland up for a big score.
Scotland were expected to struggle against the spinners and Ish Sodhi made full use of their weakness. He picked up 4 wickets in the 1st T20I and is likely to trouble them in the next game as well.
Santner also was good with the ball and picked up two wickets in the 1st T20I. What Sodhi did in the last game, Santner can do in the coming game.
