New Zealand women defeated South Africa women in their opening game of the commonwealth games. Batting first, New Zealand posted a healthy score of 167-2 in 20 overs. Suzie Bates scored a brilliant 91 while Sophie Devine played a good hand of 48. Later, the bowlers helped NZ win by 17 runs.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, were beaten badly by England women. SL could only score 106 in their quota of overs, which was easily wiped off by the hosts with five wickets to spare. The coming match is a complete mismatch as NZ are a formidable T20I unit, but the same cannot be said about SL, especially in overseas conditions.
Regular matches are being played on the ground thus the pitch is getting exhausted. It is losing pace with every passing game, making life tough for the batters against slower bowlers.
The weather for the first game of the day is not good, however, for this match, the skies will be clear, and rain is unlikely to affect the play. The temperature during the match will come down to early 20s.

We don’t have any updates on injury to a player, however, the teams might consider playing an extra spinner given the sluggish nature of the pitch.

NZ’s most successful women’s T20I player, Suzie Bates was at the peak of her form in the previous game. Bates scored a brilliant unbeaten 91 off 64 to help the White Ferns post a daunting 167-2. Bates is seen as one of the most destructive T20I players and on her day, can be unstoppable.
Devine is the leading run scorer for NZW in T20Is. She has scored 1311 runs in just 39 games. In the previous game, she played a good knock of 48 runs. Along with her batting prowess, she is a very decent bowler as well and has picked up 42 wickets for her team.
She has been the lone warrior for SL W on many occasions. She is a top quality batters and often scores big for her team. If there is one player you need from SL W team, it has to be her.
A brilliant all-round player who can change the momentum of the match in NZ’s favour. Kerr has taken 35 T20I wickets for NZ and is their third highest wicket-taker. She also features in the list of most runs for NZ W with 252 T20I runs against her name.
She had a good game against ENG W and bowled a spell of 3-29. She would like to repeat her performance against NZ and help SL W pick up their first win of the tournament.
