New Zealand and Sri Lanka will clash in a crucial game of the Super 12 stage. New Zealand defeated Australia in the first match but their second game against Afghanistan was washed out. They got one point from the match so if they beat Sri Lanka in the coming game, it will significantly boost their chances of reaching the semis.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka defeated Ireland by 9 wickets in their first Super 12 game but lost to Australia in the previous game. They played good cricket against Australia but a blinder of an innings by Marcus Stoinis took Australia home by seven wickets in a chase of 158.
The pitches so far in the T20 World Cup have been terrific and provided a balance between bat and ball. The bowlers have got help from the surfaces which has improved the quality of cricket in the tournament.
Surprisingly, a bright and sunny day awaits the teams in Sydney. The sun will be out so the players will also get some reprieve from the cold Australian winter.

The two teams have played 19 matches and have delivered some cracking games, with New Zealand marginally ahead in head-to-head encounters.

Devon Conway has been very impressive for New Zealand over the last couple of years. He has been New Zealand’s best performer in the T20 World Cup 2022 as well and played a match-winning knock of 92 in the game against Australia.
Kusal Mendis has had a brilliant tournament so far for Sri Lanka. He is the highest run-scorer of the tournament with 176 runs in 5 games. He has scored his runs at a strike rate of 157 which shows that he is in sublime form.
Finn Allen played a blazing knock of 42 off just 16 balls against Australia and whacked the likes of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood to all corners of the park. Allen is a dangerous batter and if he plays 20-30 balls, he can make a significant difference in New Zealand’s score.
While the pitches have been favourable for pacers, Hasaranga still has managed to pick more wickets than any other bowler in the tournament. He is the highest wicket-taker of the tournament with nine wickets in five games.
Trent Boult with the new ball is always a threat on helpful conditions and he will be eyeing a good show against Sri Lanka in the coming game.
