KKR didn’t get off to a great start in IPL 2023 as they suffered a seven runs defeat to Punjab Kings. Chasing a target of 192, the team was reduced to 146-5 before the rain stopped play and Punjab were declared winners. KKR didn’t have a great match but Venkatesh Iyer and Andre Russell had some good hits out there in the middle and that should raise KKR’s confidence a bit.
Meanwhile, RCB started off their campaign with a magnificent eight-wicket win over Mumbai Indians. The bowlers were on fire and restricted Mumbai Indians to a below-par 171 before Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis scored 50s to take RCB home.
The match will be played at the iconic Eden Gardens. The pitch at Eden is very good to bat and remains the same throughout the game. However, the ball does move a bit there under the lights.
It will a humid evening in Kolkata on the match day as the temperatures will rise to 37 degrees.

What a player Faf has been for the teams in IPL. The RCB skipper got his team off to a winning start with a magnificent knock of 73 in 45 balls against the Mumbai Indians. Faf, with all his experience, will be key for RCB if the team has to go on and win the IPL trophy for the first time.
Virat Kohli has peaked at the right time for RCB. After scoring hundreds in all formats of the game in the last few months, Kohli started his IPL 2023 campaign with a blistering 82 off 49. Kohli, given the kind of form he is in, can have a season like 2016 where he almost scored 1000 runs and took RCB to the final.
Mohammed Siraj has been ruthless with the new ball for India and RCB. Siraj rattled the Mumbai top order with a sensational display of fast bowling and took the wicket of Ishan Kishan while giving just 21 runs in his four overs.
The skipper will have to come good if KKR has to get past RCB. Rana didn’t do much with the bat against PBKS but would be eyeing a decent show against RCB.
Before arriving in IPL, Sunil Narine bowled a spell of 7 overs, 7 maiden and 7 wickets, proving that he still is one of the toughest bowlers to face. He was taken apart in the game against PBKS and will be eyeing a better show against RCB.
