India defeated Sri Lanka by 67 runs in the first ODI. A win for India was always on the cards but Sri Lanka also showed a great fight. Chasing a mighty target of 374, Sri Lanka lost early wickets but Pathum Nissanka, Dhananjaya de Silva and Dasun Shanaka ensured that Sri Lanka don't get blown away and kept the team in the hunt with crucial knocks.
Nissanka set up the tone with a brilliant half-century before Dasun Shanaka scored a hundred and took Sri Lanka over the 300-run mark.
It will be a belter of a wicket to bat at Eden Gardens. There is not much on offer for the bowlers in Kolkata and batters are likely to dominate the game.
The weather will be bright and sunny with temperatures ranging between 27 and 15 degrees.

Rohit Sharma looked set for a big hundred in the first ODI but was unfortunately out for 83 in 67 balls. Rohit loves to bat against Sri Lanka and has scored two double centuries against the Islanders. He will be eyeing a three-figure score in the next match.
Virat Kohli is well and truly back to his best. Kohli scored a century against Bangladesh in the third ODI and then followed it up with another century against Sri Lanka in the 1st ODI. Kohli looks unstoppable now.
Dasun Shanaka had a mighty impressive T20I series and followed it up with a brilliant century in the first ODI. Shanaka has enjoyed a stellar run in recent times and he will be looking to continue the momentum in the second ODI.
Umran Malik can be expensive at times, but he has been a wicket-taker for India. He picked up three wickets in the last game.
Wanindu Hasaranga went wicketless in the first game but when it comes to match-winners with the ball, Hasaranga is the best bet from Sri Lanka.
