England vs New Zealand – T20 World Cup Match 32 | |
---|---|
Date | 1st November 2022 |
Time | 1:30 PM IST, 8:00 AM GMT, 6:00 PM LOCAL |
Venue | Gabba, Brisbane |
This is a very important game for both teams. A win for New Zealand will get their one foot in the semis. New Zealand are placed at the top of the table with 5 points and if they beat England they will reach 7 points with a game to go. England and Australia can reach a maximum of seven points if they win both their remaining games but New Zealand have a far superior net run rate thus even if they lose one of their two games they will make it to the semis.
But they would not like to make the situation complicated and win against England to march into the semis. For England, it’s a must-win game because if they lose, Australia have two easy games lined up which they are most likely to win, so they will be the second team who will qualify from the group.
The wicket at the Gabba will have plenty of pace and bounce. Both teams have some great fast bowlers so the batters will be in for a hard time.
Another match is on verge of being washed out as there are 100 per cent chances of rain on the match day.
Jos Buttler (c & wk), Alex Hales, Dawid Malan, Ben Stokes, Liam Livingstone, Harry Brook, Moeen Ali, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood
Finn Allen, Devon Conway (wk), Kane Williamson (c), Glenn Phillips, Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Ish Sodhi, Lockie Ferguson, Trent Boult
Both teams are likely to go with an unchanged 11 in this crucial encounter.
The two top teams have played a lot of cricket against each other but England are marginally ahead when it comes to head-to-head stats.

Batters | Kane Williamson, Dawid Malan, Glenn Phillips |
All-rounders | Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran |

Jos Buttler hasn’t done much in the T20 World Cup so far but he is one of the most destructive batters going around in world cricket so he will be key for England.
Kane Williamson has been severely criticized for his poor show in T20Is but we feel he will be a key player in the team against New Zealand as he will rotate the strike and keep the innings together on the challenging surface.
Glenn Phillips played a massive role in New Zealand’s win over Sri Lanka and he scored a magnificent century to not only bail out New Zealand from early trouble but also helped them post a decent score which they later defended.
Trent Boult was at his lethal best against Sri Lanka and picked 4 wickets for 13 runs. With conditions offering enough help, he will be a real threat to the England batters.
Mark Wood can be lethal on the surface with his extra pace and tall height. He has been in good form as well in the tournament with 5 wickets in two matches.
