England started their tournament with a nine wicket loss to New Zealand but bounced back to win against Bangladesh by 137 runs. Dawid Malan’s scored a brilliant 140 while Joe Root made 82 which helped England post 364-9. England’ strength this World Cup is their batting but barring Root and Malan, other batters have looked out of form which could be a worry for them in the following matches of the World Cup.
Meanwhile, Afghanistan have lost both their games Bangladesh and India and things don’t get any easier for them. Afghan’s strength is their bowling but on the flat tracks, the likes of Rashid, Mujeeb and Fazalhaq Farooqui have looked helpless.
Let’s take a look at the dream11 team prediction for this match.
It’s a belter of a wicket in Delhi. Over 700 runs were scored here when SA played SL and India chased a target of 273 in just 35 overs when they played Afghanistan here. A high scoring game is again expected.
The weather will be clear and humid. The conditions will be challenging for players in the afternoon due to intense heat but still captains might look to chase after winning the toss.
Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Joe Root, Harry Brook/Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler (c)/(wk), Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Reece Topley
Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Ibrahim Zadran, Rahmat Shah, Hashmatullah Shahidi (c), Azmatullah Omarzai, Mohammad Nabi, Najibullah Zadran, Rashid Khan, Naveen-ul-Haq, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Mujeeb Ur Rahman
Ben Stokes is likely to return to the playing XI, however, there is no clear update on him. Afghanistan, on the other hand, despite losing the first two games, should go in with an unchanged playing XI.
England have won the two matches played against Afghanistan and they look set to continue the winning streak.

Jonny Bairstow had a good game against Bangladesh and scored 52. Delhi has one of the flattest pitches and it is very tough to get a wicket here. If Bairstow can survive the new ball, he can play a big innings.
Joe Root has been all class in the two games of World Cup. He has scored two fifties in two matches, including 82 against Bangladesh. Root is a key player in this team as he acts as a glue and allows other batters to play freely. He can still score a big innings at a run a ball strike-rate.
Jos Buttler is also due for a big score. On a small Delhi ground, Jos Buttler can be absolutely destructive. Buttler will be looking to destroy Afghan attack on Sunday as Rohit Sharma destroyed them in the previous game.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz has not fired yet but if Afghanistan have to make an impact in the match, Gurbaz has to score a century. A good knock by Gurbaz will set up Afghanistan for a big score which will make things interesting. If they are chasing, he can help the team go after a big target.
Rashid Khan has looked dull on flat surface but is an experienced campaigner and knows how to bounce back. Having already played a game at this venue, Rashid will be eyeing a good show against England.
