Colombo Strikers thrashed Galle Titans in the previous game after they chased a huge score of 189. Babar Azam scored his maiden century in LPL and clubbed with Pathum Nissanka’s blazing 54, the team managed to pull off a brilliant win. Babar Azam’s form is very pleasing for the strikers. Nuwanidu Fernando and Niroshan Dickwella have also scored 50s in the tournament but they need to be a bit more consistent. The bowling is also good with Naseem Shah and Matheesha Pathirana in good wicket-taking form.
Meanwhile, Jaffna Kings find themselves in a spot of bother. The team has played five games, suffering defeats in three games. The defeats have been a result of a poor show by the batters. The likes of Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Charith Asalanka and David Miller need to find form.
The pitch looks a good one to bat and big runs have been scored and chased in the recent few games. Once a batter is set, is it easy to bat. The bowlers are also in the game as the new ball does move a bit while spinners get the ball to grip and turn. However, the turn is not as drastic as Colombo so batters can adjust.
Rain is not a threat and we are likely to have a full game. The humidity, however, can take a toll and sweat can make gripping the ball tough for the bowlers.
Niroshan Dickwella (c & wk), Babar Azam, Pathum Nissanka, Nuwanidu Fernando, Mohammad Nawaz, Lahiru Udara, Chamika Karunaratne, Ramesh Mendis, Naseem Shah, Lakshan Sandakan, Matheesha Pathirana
Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Charith Asalanka, Towhid Hridoy, Priyamal Perera, David Miller, Thisara Perera (c), Dunith Wellalage, Maheesh Theekshana, Nandre Burger, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, Nuwan Thushara
Both teams are likely to field the same team. Colombo have played well with the same set of players while Jaffna brought back Shoaib Malik in the last game which makes their team looks settled. The bench strength is not that strong for Jaffna so despite losing three games, the team should stick to the same combination.
Colombo Strikers have struggled against Jaffna Kings, losing the last five games.

Babar Azam has been in fine form in Lanka Premier League and scored a hundred against Galle Titans. He also has a 50 to his name in the four games he has played. Babar will be key for Colombo Strikers.
Pathum Nissanka’s promotion at the top of the order worked wonders and he went on to score 54 runs. Nissanka also opens for Sri Lanka and it is a position that suits him. He is likely to come good again in the next game.
It is surprising to see Gurbaz not doing well in LPL. He is one of the most consistent batters in T20 cricket and did well in tournaments like IPL and PSL. Gurbaz has one fifty to show in the tournament and will be looking to return to form in the next game.
Shoaib Malik returned to Kings with a bang and scored 54 runs while also taking two wickets. Malik’s all-round skills will be vital for the Jaffna Kings
Pathirana had an off day against B-Love Kandy but he has been in good form in the tournament, taking seven wickets in four games. He will be eyeing a good return in the upcoming game.
