AUS-W vs NZ-W Women Semi-Final 2 | |
---|---|
Date | 6th August 2022 |
Time | 10:30 PM IST, 5:00 PM GMT / 6:00 PM LOCAL |
Venue | Edgbaston Birmingham |
New Zealand women face the mammoth task of beating Australia in the semi-final to reach the final. Australia women are daunting opposition and have comprehensively won all their games. There seem to be no loophole in the team and New Zealand will have to punch above their weight and put together an exceptional performance to pull off an upset.
However, New Zealand are down and out after a crushing defeat in the last game against England women where they could only manage 79 runs in their 20 over.
The Birmingham wicket will allow the new ball to swing for the first two overs. However, once the wicket settles in, it will be a very good wicket to bat. A high-scoring game is expected.
The temperature will be on the cooler side, around 15 degrees during the evening. There will be a slight cloud cover as well but rain is unlikely to affect the game.

Both New Zealand and Australia are very settled units and don’t like making too many changes. We are expecting them to play the same team.
Both teams have been very competitive against each other

Alyssa Healy has not fired in the tournament so far, but she is a destructive batter and in a big game such as a semi-final, she can be deadly dangerous. She is good against pacers and equally potent against spinners.
She has been in top form this tournament. She is the highest run scorer of the tournament with 131 runs in three games. NZ will need a good show from their star player to challenge Australia.
She too has had an ordinary season as per her standards but she can make amends by delivering a match winning performance. She has done it in the past and can do in the coming game as well.
She has taken six wickets in three matches so far and has also got over 92 runs for Australia. She has been a match winner for Australia women and is showing her class once again.
The ball might do a bit in the first few overs and Megal Schutt can be deadly dangerous in that period.
