Australia vs Afghanistan is a must-win game for Australia to keep their semi-final chances alive. Australia lost to New Zealand but bounced back to defeat Sri Lanka and Ireland. Their match against England was washed out. Australia must win this game to reach seven points. Also, they need to register a big win to make up for their poor net run rate.
Afghanistan are out of the T20 World Cup but on a good day, they can defeat any team. They will be eyeing to knock the defending champions out of the T20 World Cup.
It should be a good wicket to bat on. The square boundaries are very short and players get full value for their shots on this wicket. We could be in for a high-scoring game.
A bright and sunny day will await the teams in Adelaide. The temperature will also be very pleasant for the players, around 18 degrees. It will be perfect conditions to play cricket.
David Warner, Aaron Finch (c), Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis/Cameron Green, Tim David/Steve Smith, Matthew Wade (wk), Pat Cummins, Adam Zampa, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood
Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Usman Ghani, Ibrahim Zadran, Gulbadin Naib, Najibullah Zadran, Mohammad Nabi (c), Azmatullah Omarzai, Rashid Khan, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Fareed Ahmad Malik, Fazalhaq Farooqi
Aaron Finch, Marcus Stoinis and Tim David have some injury concerns so Australia may have to make a few changes to the team. Steve Smith is likely to get a game against Afghanistan. The Nabi-led side should play the same team.
The teams have never met in a T20I match.

David Warner is always a key player for Australia whether he is in form or not. He has not been at his best in the T20 World Cup but with the tournament reaching its business end, Warner will be keen to get some runs under his belt.
Glenn Maxwell has also had an off-season so far but he too will be eyeing to score big against Afghanistan. The Nabi-led side has a potent spin attack and Maxwell is arguably Australia's best player against spin so he may come good against Afghanistan.
Rahmanullah Guraz can be the batter we can expect to come well against Australia. Although it won't be easy for him against the likes of Mitchell Starc, Jos Hazlewood and Pat Cummins, he is very capable to counter the quality bowling of Australia and come out with flying colours.
Jos Hazlewood will be tough to face for the Afghan batters due to his ability to bowl wicket to wicket. On a spicy pitch, Hazlewood can be lethal with the new ball.
Mitchell Starc can also have a good game given his ability to bowl fast. Afghan batters have always found it tough against bowlers who can clock 150+ so Starc will not be easy for them to face.
