Adil Rashid’s opinion-splitting England call-up means he will miss out for Yorkshire Vikings, linking up with fellow White Rose men Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow. With Rashid out, Yorkshire are most likely to recall Jack Brooks to the team – who played in the absence of the Vikings’ England internationals earlier in the competition. If they want to keep the extra spin option – not a tactic they have actually employed when Rashid has been away before – a left-field choice could be a debut for slow left-armer James Logan, who took five wickets in his last two 2nd XI T20 matches.

Adam Lyth is Yorkshire’s top scorer in the T20 blast so far this season, opening the batting and scoring 252 runs in seven innings, including knocks of 92* and his 26-ball 60 against Lancashire.

David Willey top-scored last time out, however, hitting 55 from 44 balls batting at number three. His bowling will also be a threat but he has taken just one wicket from three matches since returning from helping England beat India in the recent ODI series.

Yorkshire also boast this year’s IPL top run scorer, Kane Williamson, in their batting line-up – after the New Zealander made his belated first appearance against Lancashire. He scored 49 against Birmingham Bears last time out at Headingley and 35 in Saturday’s reverse fixture against Derbyshire.

Liam Plunkett has two wickets to his name since his return from international duty, but Steve Patterson is their top wicket-taker with six in seven games.

Yorkshire have lost two of their last three matches, having won one in four before that. A rain-reduced 14-over Roses match ended in a one-run defeat to rivals Lancashire but they bounced back with a crushing defeat of Birmingham Bears. Tom Kohler-Cadmore hit 73 from 30 balls and Mike Williamson weighed in with 49 from 30 as the Vikings posted 226-8, and Birmingham were 31 runs short of their rain-reduced target after 18 overs – Liam Plunkett claiming 2-31 and Adil Rashid 1-19. They fell to defeat again last time out, however, as Matt Critchley fired Derbyshire to victory with a stunning final over.
