Who will win Yorkshire Diamonds vs Lancashire Thunder, WCSL 2019?
The bottom two teams in the 2019 Kia Super League meet at Scarborough on August 23, with the live action starting at 14:30, as both sides look to claim some Roses bragging rights in an otherwise disappointing season.
Yorkshire Diamonds’ narrow defeat to Southern Vipers last time out all but ended their already slim hopes of a play-off place. They have won just two matches so far and sit fifth in the table with three games to play.
That is still two wins more than Lancashire, who the Diamonds have already beaten at Liverpool, however. Winless Thunder have just one tied game to their credit and were heavily beaten in a rain-affected match at Old Trafford most recently against Loughborough Lightning. Roses bragging rights might lift them slightly, but it seems a long shot based on their current struggles.

YD vs LT Toss Prediction
Yorkshire Diamonds have won the toss in two of their last three matches. If they win again at Scarborough, the pitch could suit batting first – particularly if it takes more spin later on, when they will not want to be facing Sophie Ecclestone.
YD vs LT Weather Report
Though cloudy, the chance of rain in Scarborough in Friday is forecast as extremely low and it should be a good afternoon for cricket with temperatures up to 23 degrees Celsius.
YD vs LT Pitch Condition
Scarborough tends to serve up a grippy wicket, which will give something to the spin bowlers. A fast outfield swings the balance back towards the batsmen, however.

Yorkshire Diamonds Team News & Playing 11
YD Team News
Yorkshire Diamonds have found a settled line-up and, despite their narrow defeat last time out, that same side could be stuck with again to face Lancashire. It was the same team that earned victory against Surrey Stars.
YD Key Players
Lauren Winfield: The opening batsmen is one of three Yorkshire players with half-centuries to their name in this year’s competition. Her’s came against Lancashire, however, when the teams last met.
Leigh Kasperek: The New Zealand spinner took 4-16 against the Vipers last time out to move to eight wickets in this year’s tournament. She has 58 wickets in 34 T20 internationals – a record which speaks for itself.
Jemimah Rodrigues: The Indian batsmen has 186 runs to her name from seven innings – just short of team-mate Hollie Armitage – but she has scored them quicker than any of her Yorkshire team-mates with a strike rate of 122.36. Her last three innings have produced 58, 42* and 32.
YD Team Form
Yorkshire Diamonds recorded a rare win against Surrey Stars – just their second of the tournament – after Katie Levick led an economical bowling effort that restricted the Stars to just 121/6. Jemimah Rodrigues’ unbeaten 42 led the Diamonds to a five-wicket win.
Leigh Kasperek was their star bowler last time out, meanwhile. She took 4-16 and Levick 2-17 as they restricted Southern Vipers to 127/9. In reply, however, they lost Rodrigues in the final over and finished 124/5.

Ria Fackrell replaced Georgie Boyce last time out in a rare personnel change for the Thunder – she is just the 13th player to be used this season. Evelyn Jones has missed the last three games too, with neither her nor Boyce scoring many runs this season.
LT Key Players
Harmanpreet Kaur: Comfortably Lancashire’s top run scorer, having hit two half-centuries on her way to 217 runs so far in this year’s competition.
Sophie Ecclestone: Lancashire’s main success story this season, the England spinner may get some assistance from the Scarborough wicket as she looks to add to her ten wickets and maintain her economy rate of 5.96 runs per over.
Kate Cross: The England seamer took 2-23 last time out to maintain her good bowling form – she now has nine wickets in this year’s competition.
LT Team Form
Lancashire Thunder have now lost six of their seven games this season. That includes their last two in a row. Harmanpreet Kaur posted 50 against Western Storm to lift Lancashire to 159/8 but the Storm claimed a five-wicket win with just one ball remaining.
Last time out, meanwhile, a rain-affected game against Loughborough Lightning saw the Thunder fail to take advantage of good starts with both the bat and ball. Loughborough recovered from 15/3 to post 157/7 before Lancashire suffered a middle-order collapse as they fell to 74/6 from 13.4 overs – 35 runs behind the DLS par score.
