West Indies and India head to Port of Spain after being frustrated by the rain in the first ODI of this series. The match at the Queen’s Park Oval takes place on August 11 and the live action begins at 09:30 local time.
India are looking to continue the form they showed in the T20i series which preceded this, where they won all three matches. They also thrashed West Indies at the World Cup.

Chris Gayle: After electing to extend his ODI career, the West Indian legend fell for a scratchy four from 31 balls last time out. His form is undoubted, however – he arrived on the back of some huge hitting at the Global T20 Canada.
Sheldon Cottrell: Took four wickets in the T20i series having caught the eye at the World Cup before that. In England, he took 2-50 when these teams last met and he has 29 ODI wickets in his first 22 innings.
Nicholas Pooran: Finished the World Cup with scores of 118 and 58 and will be keen to get straight back to that form in this series. The rising 23-year-old star has an average of 45.87 so far in ODI cricket, albeit from just nine innings.
WI Team Form
West Indies won just two of their nine matches at the World Cup, losing six completed games in a row in between those two victories. They did end on a high, however – Evin Lewis (58), Shai Hope (77) and Nicholas Pooran (58) helped them set 311/6 against Afghanistan before Carlos Brathwaite’s 4-63 and 3-37 Kemar Roach ensured they bowled Afghanistan out for 288 in reply.

Rishabh Pant will be behind the stumps, while Mohammed Shami returns to the pace attack after enjoying a successful cameo at the World Cup. Rohit Sharma: Unlucky not to be named player of the tournament at the World Cup after hitting five centuries, including three in a row at the end of the group stage. That took him to 27 ODI hundreds in his career and an average of 48.91 in the format.
Virat Kohli: His batting seemed to be getting better and better as the T20 series went on. In ODI cricket, meanwhile, he hit five consecutive half-centuries – including 72 against West Indies – during the World Cup and has a phenomenal average of 59.40 in ODIs. He also has a strike rate of 93 after hitting 54 50s and 41 centuries.
Mohammed Shami: Ripped through the West Indian when these teams last met and was unlucky not to play in the World Cup semi-finals after showing excellent form in the matches he played. In four group games, he took 14 wickets.

India reached the World Cup semi-finals in good form, with Rohit Sharma’s batting lead them to top spot in the table with seven wins and just one defeat – against hosts England. They came unstuck in the semi-final against New Zealand, however – the Black Caps posted 239/8 in a match which went to the reserve day. In reply, India found themselves 24/4 and then 92/6 but Ravindra Jadeja (77) and MS Dhoni (50) led the counter-attack. They fell just short, however – bowled out for 221 in the final over.
