Shai Hope: He has been one of the most consistent performers with the bat for the West Indies across all formats. The top-order batsman has 6 hundreds and 13 fifties in ODIs along with an average of 48.48. Hope was one of the team's leading run-getters in the World Cup where he played three 50+ knocks - 68 against Australia, 96 against Bangladesh and 77 against Afghanistan.
Sheldon Cottrell: The left-arm fast bowler had finished as the best bowler for the West Indies in the World Cup with 12 wickets which included a four-wicket haul against New Zealand. He also finished as the team's best bowler in the preceding T20I series with four wickets at an economy of 5.92. Cottrell will lead the West Indian attack and will pose a serious threat to the Indian top-order.
Jason Holder: The ability to pick up wickets and score vital runs down the order makes him a valuable player in the side. The ODI skipper is the most experienced bowler from the current squad and has 129 wickets to his name. Holder has even hit nine half-centuries in the format.

West Indies have had a torrid time in the fifty-over format over the past few years and they have not won an ODI series since 2015. They last won an ODI series in 2014 - at home against Bangladesh 3-0. The Windies had a very disappointing World Cup where they managed to win just two of their nine league matches - the campaign opener against Pakistan and the final league game against Afghanistan. They put up a good fight against Australia and New Zealand but suffered heavy defeats against India, England and even Bangladesh.

The ODI series will see the return of opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan who was ruled out of the World Cup after sustaining a thumb injury in India's second league match against Australia. The left-hander will partner Rohit Sharma at the top of the batting order with skipper Virat Kohli and KL Rahul to take up number three and four positions respectively. Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja have been retained and are likely to be slotted in the middle order. Virat Kohli: He is currently the world's best batsman in the 50-over format and was one of India's top run-scorers in the World Cup with 443 runs which included five half-centuries. The skipper smashed a fifty in the last game and he will look to start off the ODI series with a big knock.
Yuzvendra Chahal: With 12 wickets in 8 matches, Chahal was one of the most impressive performers with the ball for India at the World Cup. The leg-spinner claimed a four-wicket haul against South Africa at Southampton and the team will expect him to deliver a similar performance in this first ODI.
Ravindra Jadeja: His late-order flurry with the bat, economical bowling coupled with exceptional fielding skills make him an asset to the Indian team. The all-rounder has 11 ODI half-centuries under his belt and has taken 176 wickets in the format which is the highest by any bowler from the current squad.
IND Recent Form
India have been in terrific ODI form for a long while now. They won ten out of twelve series (including the Asia Cup last year in the UAE) before going into the World Cup where they topped the points table at the end of the league round with seven wins and the solitary loss against eventual champions England. Their campaign, however, came to an end with an 18-run defeat at the hands of New Zealand in the semi-final. India have won 15 and lost 7 out of the 22 completed one-day internationals they have played so far this year.
