West Indies will take on Bangladesh in the 2021 - 23 World Test Championship. This Second and Final Test will be played at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground starting at 10:00 local time on Friday June 24th.

West Indies were the superior side in last week’s First Test in Antigua and fully deserved their 7 wicket win. The result of the Test was never in doubt after the home side dominated with the ball on Day 1 after winning the toss and asking Bangladesh to bat first. Alzarri Joseph and Jayden Seales both took 3 wickets each in the first innings with Kemar Roach and Kyle Mayers both dismissing two batters. Captain Kraigg Brathwaite ensured West Indies had a healthy first innings lead with 94 runs from 268 balls and opener John Campbell made 58 not out to win the game in the second innings.

Although Bangladesh were well beaten in the opening Test of the series, the captain and management will have taken some confidence by the way that the side did not throw in the towel in spite of being bowled out for 103 before tea on Day 1. The match could very easily have finished inside three days but some lower order runs from all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and wicket-keeper Nurul Hasan ensured that West Indies would not win the game by an innings. Mehidy Hasan Miraz took 4-59 and could be a real threat to the home batters if Bangladesh can post enough runs to keep them in the game in the first innings

The match will be played at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, Gros Islet, Saint Lucia. We expect to see a pace bowler friendly surface for the first few days with spinners coming into their own on the final day and a half.
