While Mathews cited personal reasons for his departure, Gamage who fractured his finger while batting in the first game will be returning for treatment. The selectors have named Danushka Gunathilaka and Dasun Shanaka as the respective replacements.

Kusal Mendis was the only bright spot in Sri Lanka's batting at the Port of Spain. The opener hit a century in the second innings and the team will expect him to produce another high quality knock in this match. With Angelo Mathews out of the equation, the onus will now be on Dinesh Chandimal and Niroshan Dickwella to deliver the goods with the bat.
