Fifth placed Titans will be looking to end their recent poor form when they take on Dolphins at SuperSport Park on Wednesday. After winning their opening two matches of this year’s CSA T20 Challenge, Titans have been beaten by Lions and Warriors in their last two fixtures.
Chasing 184 to beat Lions in Match 14, Titans came up just short as they lost by 1 run. However, in spite of the immense disappointment from that game, numbers three and four in the batting order, Rivaldo Moonsamy and Sibonelo Makhanya, will come into this game with confidence
Although Titans lost their last game, there were some impressive bowling performances most notably from Lizaad Williams and Aaron Phangiso. Junior Dala was expensive but he retains the ability to take big wickets which could be crucial in this match.
Titans started the tournament well but defeat in this game will mean three successive defeats.
Lhuan-dre Pretorius (wk), Joshua van Heerden, Rivaldo Moonsamy, Sibonelo Makhanya, Neil Brand, Dayyaan Galiem, Corbin Bosch, Aaron Phangiso (c), Junior Dala, Lizaad Williams, Tabraiz Shamsi
After a poor start to this year’s CSA T20 Challenge, Dolphins have picked up over recent games and are now climbing the table. They come into this match in fourth place but a win will see them move into the top three and just behind the top two.
The batting line-up for Dolphins will be desperate to get into the middle today after rain prevented any batting for the side against North West. The spent 13.2 overs in the field and did not get to bat themselves but openers Bryce Parsons and Grant Roelofsen will both be hungry to continue their previous strong form.
Prenelan Subrayen and JJ Smuts both come into this match after picking up two wickets each before the rain arrived against North West. We can expect both to enjoy the turn on offer from this pitch with the likes of Andile Phehlukwayo and Ottniel Baartman also set to be tough to face.
You have to go back to Match 7 of this competition to find the last time that Dolphins were beaten.
Grant Roelofsen (wk), Bryce Parsons, JJ Smuts, Marques Ackerman, Jason Smith, Andile Phehlukwayo, Andile Simelane, Prenelan Subrayen (c), Daryn Dupavillon, Ottniel Baartman, Okuhle Cele
Although this game is a mid-table clash between fourth and fifth, there is a big difference between the form of both sides. Titans have lost their last two matches whereas Dolphins are unbeaten in three. Our prediction is for Dolphins to win and move into the top three of the table.
