Just like Sri Lanka, their top order too suffered a collapse in both the innings and the middle order had to come to the rescue. Only their captain Steven Smith seemed to be somewhat in control with scores of 30 and 55. He is Australia's best hope against the Lankan spin attack and he could score the most runs for them. If the visitors are to score 300 or more, Warner, Smith and Voges will have to play an innings of substance.

If there is any bowler in the Sri Lankan bowling lineup that the Aussies would not want to face, it is going to be Rangana Herath. The veteran spinner took nine wickets in the first test and he was also responsible for the destruction of the West Indian batting lineup at this ground in October last year. Left-arm chinaman Lakshan Sandakan was outstanding on his debut with seven wickets in the match. Australia can lose their way if they don't find a way to tackle the Sri Lankan spinners.

Sri Lanka have only two wins in the last 10 tests against Australia at home. The Aussies have four wins with the remaining four being drawn. The two teams have gone head-to-head at Galle three times in test cricket with the visitors winning two of these games and one resulting in a draw. Our Prediction

Although intermittent showers are predicted for the second test, a draw still remains an unlikely outcome largely due to the difficult batting conditions at Galle. Even the first test produced a result in spite of being heavily affected by rain. Sri Lanka have a great record here having won six of the last nine tests and they will look to extend their win record when they take on Australia in the next test.

Australia is a team known to hit back hard after a defeat and their batsmen are expected to be better prepared to face Sri Lanka's spin. We, therefore, predict the visitors to win the second test and square up the series.
