SA vs IND 2nd Test Match Prediction & Betting Tips
After South Africa won the opening Test in Centurion by an innings and 32 runs, they go head to head once more with India at Newlands in Cape Town in the second Test. This match gets underway on Wednesday with India desperate to put in a more competitive performance. Read on as we preview this final game of the series. This Test begins at 10:30 local time.
It was a brilliant display with both bat and ball from South Africa last week and they will be looking for more of the same in this match. If they can get the ball to move for their pace bowlers once again then they will be in a strong position.
It was a very disappointing batting performance from India in the opening Test of the series but they certainly have players with the experience and ability to bounce back in this match. Even if they don’t win in Cape Town, we can expect the game to be far closer.

SA vs IND Match Toss Prediction
Batting conditions should be favourable over the first few days at this venue so we expect both skippers to choose to bat first if they win the toss.
SA vs IND Pitch Report
There is always some good pace in the wicket in Cape Town with batters able to get full value for their shots. A par score in the first innings will be 400+.
As the pitch deteriorates, we can expect some help for the spinners as well which makes batting difficult after 2 days.
Cape Town Weather Report
After rain prevented some play over the first two days at Centurion, it looks like much better weather in Cape Town with no rain forecast and temperatures of 25+ across all five days.

South Africa Team News & Playing 11
SA Team News
After pulling up with a hamstring injury in the field on the opening day of the First Test, captain Temba Bavuma has been ruled out of this game. Gerald Coetzee will also not play due to a pelvic injury with Dean Elgar leading the side in Cape Town.
SA Key Players
- Dean Elgar- it has been a remarkable career for the gritty left-hander who has made over 5300 runs and hit 14 centuries in Test cricket.
- David Bedingham- the 29 year old Test debutant made a half-century in his only innings at Centurion. He looks set for a long career at this level.
- Kagiso Rabada- the opening bowler was on a different level to his team-mates and the opposition bowlers in the First Test. We can expect him to be tough to face once more in this Test.
- Nandre Burger- the left-arm pace bowler has enjoyed a debut across all international formats since the start of December and took 4/33 in the second innings of the First Test.
- Marco Jansen - Jansen is currently South Africa’s top pacer all-rounder. He looked in good form in the first match, picking 4 wickets and scoring 84 runs. In the 2nd innings, Jansen picked crucial wickets of Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer and helped his team win by an innings.
SA Team Form
South Africa do not play much Test cricket compared to other countries but they are looking for their fourth successive win in this format.
South Africa Predicted Playing 11
Dean Elgar (c), Aiden Markram, Tony de Zorzi, Tristan Stubbs/Zubayr Hamza, Keegan Petersen, David Bedingham, Kyle Verreynne (wk), Marco Jansen, Lungi Ngidi, Kagiso Rabada, Nandre Burger
India Team News & Playing 11
IND Team News
There was a Test debut for Prasidh Krishna at Centurion and although he conceded 93 runs for one wicket, we expect him to retain his place in the side. If he is left out it is likely that Avesh Khan will come in and make his debut in this format.
IND Key Players
- Virat Kohli- the right-handed number four batter scored over 100 runs in the first Test and made 76 out of India’s poor second innings total of 131.
- KL Rahul- the keeper-batter showed the doubters that he can take the gloves and produce with the bat in Test cricket by hitting his second successive century in Tests at Centurion last week.
- Jasprit Bumrah- in spite of returning figures of 4/69 in the first innings of the Boxing Day Test, the right-arm pacer deserved more wickets and he will be a big threat once more in Cape Town.
- Mohammed Siraj- the all-format quick bowler got off to a strong start in the first Test by dismissing Aiden Markram in his second over and we expect him to be amongst the wickets once more in this game.
- Shubman Gill - The young top-order batter is trying to make big in all the formats. He could not score many runs in the first match but we are backing him to play well on this track. This will be his 20th Test match and he is 6 runs away from reaching the 1000-run mark. Gill averages 31.06 in red-ball cricket.
IND Team Form
The defeat at Centurion means that India have won only one of their last five Tests and have lost two of their last four.
India Predicted Playing 11
Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Ravindra Jadeja/Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna

South Africa are narrow favourites to win this Test Match and can be backed at 2.10. Although the bookies are expecting a tight contest with India at 2.20 to get the victory.
Who will win South Africa vs India 2nd Test Match?
Many pundits were shocked by the manner of India’s dismissals in the first innings and also by how quickly they collapsed in the second innings. South Africa bowled with accuracy and pace and we expect them to be the top side once again.
🏆 South Africa vs India Prediction
Cricket fans from across the globe will be tuning into this match to see if India have the character and ability to bounce back in this Test. The weather and pitch conditions look more suitable for the visitors and if the ball does not move as much for the host’s bowlers then that will also help. However, South Africa were far stronger with both bat and ball in the opening Test and we expect them to get a win again in this New Year’s fixture.
