The top two wicket takers in the competition both play for South Africa U-19s with slow left-arm orthodox bowler, Liam Alder, leading the way. He has taken seven wickets at an average of 9.00 and has been well backed up by right arm fast bowler Matthew Boast who has six wickets so far.

Eastern Cape

After their first two matches were washed out due to heavy rain in East London, Eastern Cape won their only Pool B fixture via a Super Over against South Western Districts. Eastern Cape posted 158-6 in reply to Districts' 158-9 in a very competitive match.

In their only victory, there were useful contributions from Mncedisi Malika (31 runs from 32 balls), Jerry Nqolo (20 runs from 16 balls) and captain Clayton Bosch (10 runs from 5 balls) but it was Joshua van Heerden who top scored with 75 runs from 56 balls.

ECI Bowling

23 year old slow left-arm orthodox bowler Jade de Klerk was the only person in Eastern Cape’s attack against South Western Districts who went wicketless. Phaphama Fojela took 2-14 from four overs with pace bowler Gideon Peters taking 3-28.

Eastern Cape showed character to win the Super Over but would have hoped to have beaten South Western Districts in normal time.
