Gulf Giants are favorites to win
Sharjah Warriors will take on Gulf Giants at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Match 30, the final group stage game of the 2022-23 ILT20 gets underway at 18:00 local time on Monday 6th February.
With seven points from nine games, Sharjah Warriors come into this match in fourth place in the ILT20. With the top four all qualifying for the play-offs, the Warriors will know exactly what they need to do in this game following the conclusion of Match 29. Dawid Malan, Moeen Ali and Chris Woakes returned to the side for their last fixture.
Any T20 side would be better off for having Dawid Malan and Moeen Ali in their team. Although both players made single figure scores in their last game, they will both be seen as key wickets on this pitch. Tom Kohler-Cadmore top scored in their defeat to Abu Dhabi Knight Riders on Saturday.
Chris Woakes and Junaid Siddique were the only two of the five man bowling attack to go wicketless in Saturday’s loss in Match 28. 23 year old left-arm fast medium bowler Muhammad Jawadullah has taken five wickets from his last two appearances.
Sharjah Warriors are looking to avoid their third successive defeat in the tournament in this game.
James Vince’s side have 14 points from nine games and are already guaranteed a place in the semi-finals. They come into this match level on points with top of the table Desert Vipers and a victory for Gulf Giants will see them take top spot.
Gulf Giants have a brilliant batting line-up with West Indian big hitter Carlos Brathwaite, who won the 2016 T20 World Cup Final with a famous innings, coming in at number seven. Shimron Hetmyer hit 54 runs from 35 balls from number five in their last game.
The bowling unit successfully defended the target of 181 on Saturday with Desert Vipers only able to post 155-6 in reply. All six bowlers used by James Vince took one wicket but we expect Chris Jordan and David Wiese to be the most threatening in this clash.
Gulf Giants have lost only one match across the tournament, but that defeat was against Sharjah Warriors.
The match will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. We have seen a wide range of scores at this venue across the tournament but it has mainly been the pace bowlers who have been the most threatening.

With Sharjah Warriors the only team to have defeated Gulf Giants in the ILT20, this should be an excellent contest in Sharjah on Monday evening. The Warriors became the first team to lose to Abu Dhabi Knight Riders on Saturday and this will be a far tougher game. We have been very impressed with Gulf Giants throughout the competition and we are backing them to win this match.
