South Africa vs England 1st T20 Match Prediction
England and South Africa turn their attentions to fine-tuning their squads for the ICC T20 World Cup, with the tourists welcoming back a clutch of star players, all of whom were rested for the ODI series. The T20i series starts at Buffalo Park, East London, on February 12 and the live action starts at 18:00 local time.
England have Ben Stokes, Mark Wood and Jos Buttler back in the squad as they look to build on their 3-2 series win against New Zealand in their last series in this format.
South Africa, meanwhile, have resisted the urge to recall AB de Villiers, but Dale Steyn does make his return to the international fold. Quinton de Kock will lead the team once more, having been named Player of the Series for the ODI leg of this tour.

SA Team News
Dale Steyn is back in the South Africa squad and Sisanda Magala has been passed fit for selection after missing the ODI matches too. Quinton de Kock will lead the team and, with the exception of Steyn’s return, the team could closely resemble that used in the ODIs.
SA Key Players
Quinton de Kock: Named Player of the Tournament in the ODI series, he has been in good batting form across all the formats and can go into the IPL and Mumbai Indians’ title defence with a big series here behind him.
Rassie van der Dussen: Initially burst onto the scene with his form on the T20 scene and the batsman boasts an average of 37.30 in T20 cricket with a strike rate of 130.58. He has hit three centuries and 23 half-centuries in T20 cricket.
Dale Steyn: The veteran paceman was in excellent form for Cape Town Blitz in the Mzansi Super League and then took five wickets in four Big Bash League matches for Melbourne Stars at the turn of the year.
SA Team Form
South Africa’s last T20i series was against India in September 2019. ENG Team News
England will welcome back Ben Stokes, Mark Wood and Jos Buttler for this series, though Jofra Archer has been ruled out injured. Dawid Malan could return to the team after not being selected during the ODI series, meanwhile, having starred when England beat New Zealand.
ENG Key Players
Ben Stokes: England’s star of 2019, the all-rounder’s star has risen to its highest level and while his T20 record is more modest than his test and ODI records, in his current form you would back him to star once again.
Jason Roy: Comes into this series having scored exactly 5,000 T20 runs in 199 matches, with a strike rate of 145.64. He will set the tempo at the top of the order.
Dawid Malan: After his fine-form for England in the series win against New Zealand, he also hit a century in the Bangladesh Premier League in his most recent T20 excursion. He will have fond memories of facing South Africa in T20i cricket, having smashed 78 from 44 balls on his debut against them.
ENG Team Form
England’s last T20i series saw a much-changed team pull off a thrilling series win against New Zealand. James Vince’s half-century in the first match led England to a seven-wicket win, but New Zealand hit back to win the next two matches. Dawid Malan’s unbeaten century and Matt Parkinson’s four wickets led England to a total of 241/3 and a 76-run win to level the series, however.
The final match was reduced to 11 overs per side and both sides scored 146, before England went on to win in a super over.
