Pakistan Women will take on Sri Lanka Women in the first game of a three-match WT20I series. The game will be played at the Southend Club Cricket Stadium, Karachi starting at 14:00 local time on Tuesday May 24th.

The hosts Pakistan Women will begin this series as slight favourites over visitors Sri Lanka Women. However there is not a great deal to choose between the two teams. This match will be Pakistan Women’s first WT20I fixture since July 2021 when they lost a three game series 3-0 against West Indies in Antigua. During the Women’s World Cup in March and April of this year, Pakistan Women finished bottom of the group but did get their first World Cup win since 2009. They will hope that home advantage counts for something in this series opener. 

Sri Lanka Women did not qualify for the Women’s World Cup earlier this year but are only one place behind Pakistan Women in the WT20I Rankings. Their last games in this format were against Bangladesh Women, Malaysia Women, Kenya Women and Scotland Women as part of the Women’s T20 Commonwealth Games Qualifiers in Kuala Lumpur in January of this year. Sri Lanka won every match in the qualifiers to take the final spot in this summer’s competition. Captain Chamari Athapaththu finished as the player of the qualifiers and the highest run scorer.

The match will be played at the Southend Club Cricket Stadium, Karachi. Expect to see a pitch which gives some assistance to the pace bowlers with a par score no higher than 150.
