NZW vs RSAW Betting Tips

  • Sophie Devine's first WT20i century last time out helped New Zealand to a dominant 69-run win as they sealed series success with a game to spare.
  • Devine has scored 54*, 61, 77 and 105 in the four games so far, with New Zealand winning three of them comfortably but suffering a five-wicket defeat in the third game.
  • South Africa's batting, apart from in that win in Wellington, has fallen short - they chased 154 to win that game, but have otherwise scored 116/7, 119 and 102.

New Zealand Women vs South Africa Women 5th T20 Match Prediction

New Zealand and South Africa conclude their WT20i series in Dunedin, with the hosts holding an unassailable 3-1 series lead going into the game. The final match of the series takes place at the University Oval on February 13, and the live action starts from 14:00.

Sophie Devine’s supreme batting form has been central to New Zealand’s success so far and, after three consecutive half-centuries in the first three matches, she hit 105 last time out – more than the entire South Africa team managed between them in reply.

It was the perfect response with bat and ball from New Zealand, having failed to defend 153/5 in the third game of the series, but raises more questions of South Africa’s fragile batting.

Toss Prediction

South Africa finally won the toss last time out and elected to field first but they could not prevent a heavy defeat. The University Oval may be a pitch to bat first on.

Weather Report

A wet morning in Dunedin should subside by the afternoon but there is still a 25 per cent chance of rain and extremely high humidity in cloudy conditions.

Pitch Condition

The University Oval has tended to serve up batting wickets, as was definitely the case during the Super Smash recently.

NZ Women Team News & Playing 11

NZ Team News

Lauren Down and Jess Kerr have come into the team in the last two matches, as have Anna Peterson and Holly Huddleston. New Zealand could revert to the team most likely to start the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup for this game, however – though Kerr and Peterson impressed with the ball last time out to suggest they may have a chance of being in that XI.

NZ Key Players

Sophie Devine: The captain has been in stunning form so far, picking up where she left off domestically, by hitting three consecutive half-centuries and then her T20i career best 105 from 65 balls. She also has four wickets in the series.

Suzie Bates: Held an end for Devine in a useful 142-run partnership last time out, finishing unbeaten on 47 herself and issuing a reminder of the role she can play in that top-order partnership.

Leigh Kasperek: The Scottish-born spinner took 2-17 in the opening game of this series and now has 60 wickets in 36 WT20i matches in her career.

NZ Team Form

New Zealand got back to winning ways last time out to seal another series win, having defeated India previously. Sophie Devine’s batting, combined with an excellent team bowling effort, has been the central factor in New Zealand’s success. Her 105 last time out takes her to 297 runs in the four games so far, helping New Zealand to three dominant wins along the way.

NZW vs RSAW Dream11 Team Prediction, Captain, Vice Captain

Wicket-keeper

Lizelle Lee top-scored for South Africa last time out, but her form has not reached the heights she is capable of. Rachel Priest could return for New Zealand this time and, if she does, she looks the better option at nine credits.

Batsmen

Suzie Bates got back in decent form last time out and could be a good pick at 9.5 credits if that continues into the final game of the series. Mignon du Preez is nine credits, as is Sune Luus, but the latter has the advantage of being a bowler too and so looks the better pick. At 8.5 credits, Chloe Tryon starred in the win in the third match of the series and bowled three overs last time out too – generally, her position down the order means her impact is limited, but she can still swing the bat if needed.

All-rounders

Sophie Devine stepped things up another level last time out and there is no question that you are still getting a bargain at 11 credits for New Zealand captain and star all-rounder. South Africa captain Dane van Niekerk is more of a gamble at ten credits but she batted well in the third game of the series. Gambling on Marizanne Kapp’s fitness at 9.5 credits may be a risk too far, but Amelia Kerr is good value at just nine credits.

Bowlers

Kerr was outshone by her sister, Jess, last time out and the latter – at just eight credits – could be a good pick. Anna Peterson was in good bowling form too and if both play, they are both great-value picks. The alternatives, should selection dictate otherwise, would be Rosemary Mair and Lea Tahuhu. For South Africa, Ayabonga Khaka has enjoyed good bowling form on this tour, which leaves nine credits for the final bowler. Shabnim Ismail was absent from batting last time out, while Leigh Kasperek has not played the last two matches. If the latter returns, however, her T20i wicket-taking record speaks for itself.

Captain/Vice-captain

Sophie Devine’s supreme batting form and her four wickets too means there is no other sensible choice when it comes to captain. Other options for vice-captain include the in-form bowlers and South Africa captain Dane van Niekerk, but Chloe Tryon might be worth a gamble given she bowled more prominently than usual last time out too.

SA Women Team News & Playing 11

SA Team News

Marizanne Kapp missed out again last time out, while Shabnim Ismail was absent when South Africa batted. Kapp has played just one of the four matches so far, having struggled with what was initially described as a minor injury. If both are fit, however, they could play in Dunedin as South Africa look to find some momentum ahead of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.

SA Key Players

Mignon du Preez: Offered some resistance last time out to move to 103 runs in the series, though she has not hit the form she had previously showed in the past 12 months so far.

Dane van Niekerk: The South African captain’s innings was integral to their one win so far, while she is a useful option with the ball too – albeit not a prolific wicket-taker.

Ayabonga Khaka: Under the circumstances, her 0-32 was relatively tidy last time out. She took two wickets in each of the two previous matches, meanwhile, to continue the form she showed in the WODI whitewash.

SA Team Form

South Africa have now lost their last two WT20i series heavily, first to India and now to New Zealand. Ayabonga Khaka, Dane van Niekerk and Chloe Tryon all played their part in a five-wicket win in the third match to keep the series alive.

But there was little to shout about last time as they conceded 171/2 and then struggled to a miserable 102 all out in reply.
