North West are favourites to win
North West will take on Dolphins at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom. Match 6 of the CSA T20 Challenge gets underway at 18:00 local time on Wednesday, October 19th.
Although North West conceded 174-6 from 20 overs in the field, they chased down the target of 175 with five balls and four wickets in hand against Lions on Monday evening. North West batted in an aggressive manner with six of their eight batters producing strike-rates of 105.26 - 206.89.
Senuran Muthusamy was the batting star for North West against Lions and finished unbeaten on 60 from 29 balls. He took the Player of the Match Award after hitting four fours and five sixes. Delano Potgieter hit a very useful 34 runs from 17 balls.
It was no surprise to see Duan Jansen and fellow opening bowler Kerwin Mungroo take a wicket each against Lions. Both bowl with genuine pace with Jansen’s height causing additional problems. Eldred Hawken and Senuran Muthusamy dismissed two batters each.
North West were on a poor run of form towards the end of the last CSA T20 Challenge but have now won two in a row.
In spite of reducing Titans to 17-2 and at one point being 77-1 themselves, Dolphins ended up losing their opening game by 34 runs. There were expensive bowlers during the Titans innings before an enormous batting collapse saw them defeated.
Keeper-batter Grant Roelofsen scored over half of Dolphins runs on Monday afternoon. The opener hit seven fours and two sixes in an innings of 68 runs from 42 balls. Only fellow opener Bryce Parsons and JJ Smuts at number three made double figure scores.
Eathan Bosch (2-13) and Andile Simelane (2-25) were the leading wicket takers for Dolphins against Titans. Ottniel Baartman and Thando Ntini both took a wicket each but Ntini conceded 49 runs from his four overs. Prenelan Subrayen and JJ Smuts took no wickets from their combined five overs.
Dolphins have won only one of their last four matches across this and the last tournament.
The match will be played at Senwes Park, Potchefstroom. We expect a par score to be close to 180 on a surface which provides consistent bounce and carry.
