New Zealand are favourites to win
New Zealand wrapped up the first test against Pakistan at Christchurch inside four days to register a thumping 8-wicket win and go 1-up in the two-match series. The second and the final test is scheduled to be played between 25th and 29th November at the Seddon Park, Hamilton. Live action starts at 11 AM local time.
Read on for our betting tips, betting odds and match prediction for New Zealand vs Pakistan second test....
The last two test matches at the Seddon Park has seen first-innings scores of 367 and 292 which is enough to indicate that the wicket could be good for batting, especially during the first couple of days or so. The previous four matches at this ground have all been won by the side batting second. So there is a clear toss bias here and the team that wins the toss may prefer fielding first.
Betting on the hosts should be a good idea if they win the toss and bowl first. They did the same in their last two tests here and went on to win.
Predicted Score: Around 270
Raval, Nicholls and Williamson are looking in good touch and New Zealand will back them to bat well here. There will be resistance from Mohammad Amir, Sohail Khan and Rahat Ali but we expect the Kiwi batters to overcome them and reach the predicted score.
New Zealand have made two changes to their squad. Allrounder Mitchell Santner has fully recovered from wrist injury and has replaced Jimmy Neesham while batsman Dean Brownlie has been brought in as cover for Ross Taylor who will be missing out due to an eye problem.
Skipper Kane Williamson will be the key with the bat. He averages 50.14 at this ground and has one hundred and four fifties from four matches. He will also be coming off a 61-run knock in the first test. Tim Southee will undoubtedly be the danger man with the ball for Pakistan. The speedster has taken 26 wickets from five tests at this ground and he also took a match haul of five wickets at Christchurch.
New Zealand's victory in the last test means that they have put an end to their four-match losing streak and will look to build on from here. They have won their last two tests at the Seddon Park against the West Indies in 2013 and Sri Lanka in 2015 respectively.
Kane Williamson (c),Todd Astle, Trent Boult, Colin de Grandhomme, Tom Latham, Henry Nicholls, Jeet Raval, Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Dean Brownlie, BJ Watling(wk)
Predicted Score: Around 200
None of their batsmen could even score a fifty in the first game. The Kiwi fast bowlers were absolutely lethal and conditions at Hamilton will make them even more threatening. Pakistan will have to bat out of their skins to go past what we have predicted.
Misbah ul Haq is unlikely to play this match as he has gone home due to the demise of his father-in-law. Azhar Ali will be leading the side in case Misbah doesn't make it back in time.
Asad Shafiq has played one test match at this ground and scored a fifty in that match. Azhar Ali could not get a big score in the last game but he looked promising in the second innings. Pakistan will need Shafiq and Ali to perform with the bat. Mohammad Amir and Rahat Ali who took four wickets each will be their best bet with the ball.
Pakistan have now lost back-back to test matches. They lost to West Indies at Sharjah before coming to New Zealand. They have played four tests at this ground in the past and have wins in two of them which includes the win in their last match here against New Zealand.
Azhar Ali (c), Asad Shafiq, Babar Azam, Mohammad Amir, Rahat Ali, Sami Aslam, Sarfraz Ahmed (wk), Sharjeel Khan, Sohail Khan, Yasir Shah, Younis Khan
New Zealand are overwhelming favorites to win this match at 2.32 with 1xbet and 2.15 with bet365. Pakistan's dismal performance in the first match have made them distant outsiders at 5.3 and 5.00 respectively. There hasn't been a drawn game at this ground since 2005 and so we don't suggest betting on a draw which is 2.52 with betfair and 2.60 with bet365.
New Zealand have till date played four test matches against Pakistan at this ground. Out of these four, they have won one, drawn one and lost two. Pakistan will feel confident that they beat the hosts the last time they took them on here. However, Misbah is likely to miss this game and his absence will deplete an already struggling Pakistani batting lineup.
New Zealand were clearly the superior side in the first match and they seem to enjoy playing at home. We therefore predict the hosts to win this match and hence the series by 2-0.
