Who will win Netherlands vs Nepal, 5th T20?
Netherlands take on Nepal in the fifth game of the 2019-20 Oman Pentagular T20i Series in Muscat. The match, at the Al-Emarat Cricket Stadium, is both team’s second of the tournament, and takes place on October 7. The live action begins at 09:30 local time.
The Dutch started their campaign with a defeat against Ireland, but debutant Colin Ackermann and experienced pros Fred Klassen, Ryan ten Doeschate and Roelof van der Merwe are all back in the squad after being allowed to continue their domestic commitments over the Netherlands’ more recent T20 matches.
Nepal, meanwhile, were the final team to get their series underway. They started against a depleted Hong Kong team and Karan KC issued a reminder of his bowling talents too – taking three wickets in one over to show there is talent in the Nepalese ranks. They are the only team playing in this series who will not be at the T20 World Cup Qualifier, however.

Netherlands Team News & Playing 11
NED Team News
The Netherlands are back to full strength for this series, with Colin Ackermann making his T20i debut in the opening game against Ireland. Roelof van der Merwe also slotted into the line-up for that game, and Ryan ten Doeschate and Fred Klaassen could come in to face Nepal. All four were allowed to continue their domestic commitments in England, rather than joining up with the Dutch squad against the UAE and then in Ireland.
NED Key Players
Colin Ackermann: Made T20 history playing for Leicestershire in the T20 Blast when he took the first-ever full T20 seven-wicket haul in a win against Birmingham Bears. Considering his bowling is secondary to his batting, it is easy to see why the Dutch have been keen to call him up.
Max O’Dowd: In top form with the bat, having hit half-centuries in the series with Zimbabwe, the UAE and the Tri-Nation Series in Ireland too. His 571 T20i runs have been accumulated a strike rate of 130.36 too.
Ryan ten Doeschate: The Dutch legend may be in his 40th year now, but he remains a key player for the Netherlands. He is closing in on 7,000 runs in T20 cricket and boasts a 134.43 average in the format.
NED Team Form
The Netherlands’ recent series have seen them giving youth a chance, and results have been poor as a result. They then started this series with a defeat to Ireland too – Ben Cooper hit 65 in a total of 167/7, but Ireland chased it down with ten balls to spare to win by six wickets.
Netherlands Predicted Playing 11
Tobias Visee, Max O’Dowd, Ben Cooper, Colin Ackermann, Ryan ten Doeschate, Roelof van der Merwe, Scott Edwards (wk), Pieter Seelaar (c), Shane Snater, Paul van Meekeren, Fred Klaassen
Nepal Team News & Playing 11
NEP Team News
Teenagers Kushal Malla and Ishan Pandey did not play the opening game of this series despite both having featured in the Singapore Tri-Nation Series. The main core of the team used in Singapore was retained, however.
NEP Key Players
Sandeep Lamichhane: The Nepalese leg-spinner has already forged a huge reputation in T20 cricket, starring in the franchise leagues across the globe. The 19-year-old took five wickets in two games against Zimbabwe prior to this series and eight wickets in the CPL.
Paras Khadka: The Nepalese captain made history in the last month’s win against Singapore, when he smashed an unbeaten 106 from 52 balls – including seven fours and nine sixes – to become the first Nepal international to score a T20i century.
Karan KC: Made a wicket-taking start to his T20i career, which he will now be looking to maintain as Nepal start to face a higher calibre of opposition. He took three wickets in one over against Hong Kong.
NEP Team Form
Nepal failed to qualify for the T20 World Cup qualifier but they did get some revenge on Singapore – the team who beat them to the Asian qualifying spot – by beating them in last week’s tri-nation series. That win was between two defeats to Zimbabwe. They started this series against Hong Kong.
Nepal Predicted Playing 11
Paras Khadka (c), DS Airee, Sompal Kami, Binod Bhandari (wk), Karan KC, Sandeep Lamichhane, Aarif Sheikh, Abinash Bohara, Rohit Paudel, Lalit Rajbanshi, Pawan Sarraf
Netherlands vs Nepal Head to Head
Netherlands and Nepal have met each other five times in T20 internationals, with the Dutch winning three of the four matches that were completed. Those four were all played in the Netherlands in 2015, with the Dutch taking a 3-0 series leads before Nepal restored some pride by winning the final game.
Their most recent meeting was at Lord’s in 2018, when the Dutch had motored to 174/4 from 16.4 overs - with Wesley Barresi, Ryan ten Doeschate, Michael Rippon and Scott Edwards all making useful scores – before the rain curtailed that match.
