Who will win Netherlands vs Hong Kong, 9th T20?
The Netherlands and Hong Kong will be looking to avoid the wooden spoon when they face each other in the penultimate game of the 2019-20 Oman Pentangular T20i Series in Muscat. The match, at the Al-Amerat Cricket Stadium, will take place on October 10 and the live action is scheduled to start at 09:30 local time.
This is both teams’ final game in the tournament, which has served as a warm-up for the ICC World T20 Qualifier later this month. Both teams ought to be concerned by their form, however – the Netherlands were particularly poor last time out, as they posted just 94 in their defeat to Oman.
Hong Kong, meanwhile, were always up against it when several senior players – led by Anshuman Rath and Babar Hayat – opted to turn their backs on the national team. They have had a couple of positives, but will not be expecting anything other than a defeat to close the series.

NED vs HK Toss Prediction
The Netherlands opted to bat first last time out and regretted their decision – that was the first time they had won the toss in this series and they will be unlikely to choose the same again if they win this toss.
NED vs HK Weather Report
There will not be a cloud in the sky, and temperatures will already be approaching the mid-30s by the time this early match gets underway in Muscat.
NED vs HK Pitch Condition
There is nothing to suggest the wicket at Muscat favours batting or bowling. Kevin O’Brien smashed a century on it for Ireland, but then the Netherlands collapsed to 94 all out in their most recent game. It is fair to say, there is something for everyone.

Netherlands Team News & Playing 11
NED Team News
Ben Cooper has not played since the opening game of this series, while Ryan ten Doeschate is yet to feature at all since returning to the national squad. The team that plays Hong Kong is likely to be the team that starts the ICC World T20 Qualifier, however, so you would expect both to be back in action if fit.
NED Key Players
Colin Ackermann: Scores of 27, 29 and 15 have been platforms that he now needs to start building from. His usefulness with the ball was highlighted by his record-breaking seven-wicket haul during the T20 Blast too.
Max O’Dowd: Top-scored in each of the last two matches, scoring 43 in the defeat to Nepal and 24 from 18 balls in the loss to Oman. His form has been excellent in T20i cricket, even if the team’s has not.
Roelof van der Merwe: Back in the national squad after sticking with his domestic commitments – as per the Dutch plan – and he has so far led the bowling with two wickets and a good economy rate. He can also provide runs with the bat, though he has not showed the latter.
NED Team Form
Three defeats from three have made for a disappointing series for the Dutch. Ben Cooper’s 65, in a total of 167/7, was not quite enough against Ireland as they lost by six wickets, but the batting performances have got worse since.
Against Nepal, they were bowled out for 133 and lost by four wickets, despite Roelof van der Merwe’s 2-14 from four overs, while they collapsed to 94 all out as they lost by seven wickets to hosts Oman last time out.
Netherlands Predicted Playing 11
Tobias Visee, Max O’Dowd, Ben Cooper, Colin Ackermann, Ryan ten Doeschate, Roelof van der Merwe, Scott Edwards (wk), Pieter Seelaar (c), Shane Snater, Paul van Meekeren, Fred Klaassen
Hong Kong Team News & Playing 11
HK Team News
With one eye on the future, and a new squad to bed in, Hong Kong have used 13 players so far. Aizaz Khan has not played, however, with Kinchit Shah leading the team in his place.
HK Key Players
Nizakat Khan: After bursting into the limelight with his ODI performance against India, he could be a key figure in this now depleted Hong Kong side moving forward.
Kyle Christie: Has taken five wickets so far in this series, after his Hong Kong T20 Blitz performances last year helped earn him a first call up the national team.
Haroon Arshad: Top-scored with 45 from 27 balls in the defeat against Ireland, at least providing some cheer in an otherwise frustrating game.
HK Team Form
After more than two-and-a-half years since they last played a T20 international, Hong Kong have lost all three matches in this series. They struggled to 96/9 on their way to a seven-wicket defeat to Oman in the first game, before posting 125/6 as they lost to Nepal by four wickets next up.
Last time out, against Ireland, they conceded 208/5, and Haroon Arshad’s top score of 45 from 27 balls was one of few positives as Hong Kong went on to lose by 66 runs.
Hong Kong Predicted Playing 11
Ahsan Abassi, Nizakat Khan, Kinchit Shah (c), Scott McKechnie (wk), Waqas Barkat, Haroon Arshad, Ehsan Khan, Raag Kapur, Mohammad Ghazanfar, Kyle Christie, Nasrulla Rana
Netherlands vs Hong Kong Head to Head
Hong Kong won the last – and only – time these two nations have met in T20 cricket. Nizakat Khan hit a half-century as Hong Kong posted 183/4 in the 2017 Desert T20 Challenge, before they bowled the Dutch out for just 92 in reply.
