Mpumalanga Rhinos will take on South Africa U-19s at Buffalo Park, East London. Match 5 in Pool A of the CSA Provincial T20 Cup 2022/23 begins at 09:30 local time on Sunday 2nd October.

After losing their opening game of the tournament by seven wickets with 24 balls remaining to Tuskers on Friday, the Rhinos responded with a last ball victory over Eastern Storm on Saturday. They won by two wickets and are now up and running in the competition.

Captain Yassar Cook was the key batter for Mpumalanga Rhinos in the win over Eastern Storm. The 29 year old right handed opener hit 50 runs from 30 balls, including nine fours and one six, as he put on 73 runs with Tumi Koto for the first wicket inside seven overs.

The Rhinos’ bowling was not overly impressive on Saturday with only three bowlers, Thula Ngcobo, Jon Hinrichsen and Caleb Balich taking a wicket each. 23 year old right arm fast medium bowler Hinrichsen was the pick of the bowlers, taking 1-25.

It has been an excellent start for South Africa U-19s in the 2022 CSA Provincial T20 Cup. After two games, they sit top of Pool A after beating Eastern Storm by five wickets with 24 balls remaining and following it up with a 15 run win over Tuskers.

Opener, keeper-batter Meeka-eel Prince top scored against Tuskers with 45 runs from 37 balls. There were also useful lower-order runs from Dewan Marais who hit 23 runs from 20 balls at number seven and Abdullah Bayoumy who struck 10 runs from five balls at number eight.

South Africa U-19s bowlers were in fine form on Saturday with Matthew Boast and Liam Alder continuing their fine performances from Friday. Boast took 3-22 to back up his figures of 2-25 against Eastern Storm with Alder taking 3-26 on Saturday and 2-22 on Friday.
