Montreal were crushed by Brampton Wolves, after being bowled out for just 101 on their way to a ten-wicket defeat in just 40 balls. They had won their previous match – a reduced game against Winnipeg Hawks – so another win would keep them on track, however.
Defending champions Vancouver Knights were in excellent form in the opening game and looked good after posting 208/5 against Winnipeg last time out. Vancouver Knights started their title defence by beating Toronto Nationals on the opening night. They restricted the Nationals to 159/5 and Chadwick Walton and Rassie van der Dussen both hit unbeaten half-centuries in an eight-wicket win.
They then posted 208/5 against Winnipeg Hawks last time out, but their bowlers did not back the batsmen – the Hawks claiming a seven-wicket win in just 15.2 overs in reply.
