MI Team News

Rohit Sharma is expected to return for Mumbai Indians, after they opted to rest the captain as a precautionary measure last time out due to a leg muscle spasm he suffered in training. Siddhesh Lad was the player to replace him. Lad could retain his place, however, and drop into the middle order with Ishan Kishan failing to take his chance in place of Yuvraj Singh in the last two matches.

MI Key Players

Kieron Pollard was at his explosive best with the bat to lead Mumbai Indians to victory last time out – the West Indian hammering 83 from 31 balls – including ten sixes – in the three-wicket win against Kings XI Punjab. Pollard had hit 46 not out from 26 balls in the previous game too, having recaptured his best form with the bat.

Fellow West Indian Alzarri Joseph hit the winning runs, meanwhile, off the final ball. He stole the headlines in the previous game, against Sunrisers Hyderabad – his IPL debut – when he claimed a stunning six-wicket haul.

Jasprit Bumrah took his sixth wicket of this year’s tournament last time out, meanwhile, and Jason Behrendorff took his tally to four in three matches. Teenager Rahul Chahar kept things tidy again, meanwhile – his 12 dot balls proving vital given the chase went down to the final ball.

Other than Pollard – who is now their leading run scorer – Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav have also hit half-centuries in the first half-dozen games. De Kock has scored 157 runs so far and Yadav has 138. Both will hope to show more consistent form on the batsman-friendly Wankhede pitch, however – as will captain Rohit Sharma.

MI Team Form

Mumbai are in excellent form after three consecutive wins and four from six in total this season. They beat Chennai Super Kings by 37 runs to start the winning streak – Suryakumar Yadav scoring a half-century and Lasith Malinga and Hardik Pandya both claiming three wickets.

Then it was the Alzarri Joseph show, as the West Indian paceman tore through the Sunrisers Hyderabad with his incredible 6-12 – the visitors folding for just 96 in reply to 136/7.

And Mumbai kept the winning feeling alive last time out as they beat Kings XI Punjab. Chasing 198 to win, Kieron Pollard’s rapid 83 from 31 balls set the tone and they got home on the final ball to win by three wickets.

RR Team News & Playing 11

RR Team News

Sanju Samson returned from injury last time out, but Rajasthan have struggled to find a settled XI. Teenage spinner Riyan Parag made his IPL debut and Jaydev Unadkat returned to the starting line-up last time out too. Prashant Chopra, Krishnappa Gowtham and Sudhesan Midhun were the three to make way. One of the only consistent selections for Rajasthan has been the make-up of their overseas quartet but that could change too with Ashton Turner, Liam Livingstone and Ish Sodhi all waiting for an opportunity.

RR Key Players

Jos Buttler is Rajasthan’s leading run scorer with 199 runs in Indian Premier League 2019, including two half-centuries. The big-hitting English batsman was key to Rajasthan’s turnaround last season and the Royals will hope he can have a similar impact this year.

Steve Smith is next on the list, after his unbeaten 73 against Kolkata Knight Riders, but the disgraced former Australia captain could be one of the overseas players who’s place is in danger – his strike rate is just 110.12 on his way to his 174 runs so far.

Sanju Samson’s return is a boost, however. He hit an unbeaten century in Rajasthan’s defeat to Sunrisers Hyderabad before missing two matches injured. Liam Livingstone and Ashton Turner are pushing for first starts, meanwhile. Livingstone impressed in the Pakistan Super League and Turner excelled in the Big Bash League. With the ball, Shreyas Gopal has taken eight wickets from six matches so far, with an economy rate of 6.65 runs per over. Ben Stokes six wickets have cost more than 11 runs per over, but Jofra Archer has been much more economical – he has taken four wickets with an economy rate of 6.78 runs per over.

RR Team Form

Rajasthan Royals lost their first three matches in a row but bounced back last time out.

An eight-run defeat to Chennai Super Kings, chasing 176 to win, was their third loss from three games, but they broke their duck in Jaipur when they beat Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Shreyas Gopal’s 3-12 helped limit RCB to 158/4, before Rajasthan stormed to a seven-wicket win with one ball to spare – Jos Buttler hitting 59.

MI vs RR Head to Head

MI vs RR Head to Head

Mumbai Indians have won 11 of their 20 matches against Rajasthan Royals but lost twice to them last season on the Royals’ return to the IPL. Suryakumar Yadav and Ishan Kishan scored half-centuries in the first match but Rajasthan chased 168 to win by three wickets. In the second meeting, Jos Buttler was in red-hot form – the Englishman hammered 94 not out from 53 balls as Rajasthan chased 169 to win by seven wickets with two overs remaining.

MI vs RR Betting Odds

Mumbai Indians are in great form and are unsurprisingly favourites to beat a Rajasthan Royals team who have failed to impress so far this season.

MI Betway Odds

  • MI to Win the Match: Mumbai Indians are big favourites to beat Rajasthan Royals, at 1.57 with Betway.
  • MI Top Batsmen: Siddhesh Lad started last time out and is 5.00 to be their top batsman. Rohit Sharma, should he return, is 3.25 and Quinton de Kock is 3.75. Kieron Pollard is a very generous 8.00 despite top-scoring in each of the last two matches.
  • MI Top Bowler: Jasprit Bumrah is 3.25 to be Mumbai’s top bowler, while Jason Behrendorff is 3.60 and Alzarri Joseph is 4.50. Hardik Pandya, though expensive, has a knack of picking up wickets and he is 5.50.

RR Betway Odds

  • RR to Win the Match: Rajasthan Royals are out of form and big outsiders at 2.25 to beat Mumbai Indians with Betway.
  • RR Top Batsman: Unsurprisingly, Jos Buttler is 3.00 favourite to be Rajasthan’s top run scorer. Ajinkya Rahane is 4.25, while Sanju Samson is 4.33. Potential additions to the team, Liam Livingstone and Ashton Turner, are 4.75 and 10.00 respectively.
  • RR Top Bowler: Jofra Archer has kept things tight with the ball and he is 3.00 to be their star bowler, while Shreyas Gopal is 4.00.

MI Bet365 Odds

  • MI to Win the Match: Mumbai Indians are 1.61 favourites to beat Rajasthan Royals with Bet365.
  • MI Top Batsman: Kieron Pollard has been their batting star in the last two matches, and is now 5.00 to be their top batsman again – a good price, especially if he continues higher up the order. Suryakumar Yadav is also 5.00 to top score, while Quinton de Kock is 4.00 and Rohit Sharma 3.40 on his expected return. Pollard is 5.00 favourite to hit the most sixes.
  • KXIP Top Bowler: With the ball, Alzarri Joseph is 4.50 to be their top bowler, as is Jason Behrendorff. Jasprit Bumrah is 3.60, while Hardik Pandya could be worth backing at 5.50.

RR Bet365 Odds

  • RR to Win the Match: Rajasthan Royals are 2.30 outsiders to beat Mumbai Indians, which is no surprise given their form so far.
  • RR Top Batsman: Jos Buttler is 3.50 to be the Royals’ top batsman, while Steve Smith is 4.00 and Sanju Samson is 4.50. Liam Livingstone is 5.00, meanwhile, and Ashton Turner is 7.00 with both bidding for a first start. Buttler is 6.00 to hit the most sixes in the match, having been in explosive form when these sides last met.
  • RR Top Bowler: Shreyas Gopal is 3.10 to be their best bowler, meanwhile, and Jofra Archer is 4.00.

MI Betrally Odds

  • MI to Win the Match: Mumbai Indians are favourites to continue their good run of form at 1.60 to win with Betrally.
  • MI Top Batsman: Kieron Pollard’s form means he is now only 4.90 to be their top batsman, while Rohit Sharma is 3.25 and Quinton de Kock 3.95. Suryakumar Yadav is 4.95.
  • MI Top Bowler: With the ball, Jasprit Bumrah is 3.45 to be their star bowler and Jason Behrendorff is 4.45. Alzarri Joseph is also 4.45, as is Rahul Chahar.

RR Betrally Odds

  • RR to Win the Match: You can get 2.25 on Rajasthan Royals beating in-form Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium.
  • RR Top Batsman: Jos Buttler is 3.35 to be their top batsman and Ajinkya Rahane is 4.35. Sanju Samson can be backed at 4.45, while Liam Livingstone is 5.05.
  • RR Top Bowler: Shreyas Gopal is 3.05 to be their top bowler, meanwhile. Jofra Archer is 3.95.

MI vs RR Prediction

Mumbai Indians are on a great run of form and the same can not be said of Rajasthan Royals. If Mumbai tick as they have been, Kieron Pollard brings more explosive batting and they keep Jos Buttler quiet for the Royals, Mumbai can extend their winning streak.
