Mumbai Indians lost to Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 wickets on Monday. With their second straight defeat and third overall in their four games, MI have dropped down to the second bottom position on the points table. Royal Challengers Bangalore, also with two points from their two games, are currently fourth in the league standings. The two high-profile teams will now take on each other at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The 14th match of the Indian Premier League 2016 will be played on Apr 20 and live action will begin at 8 PM local time.
Except Ambati Rayudu and Krunal Pandya, none of the batsmen could score big against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rayudu top-scored for his side with 54 runs while Pandya made a fine 49 off 28 balls. Though Rohit Sharma failed to fire on Monday, he will be a worthy bet to top score at the Wankhede on Wednesday. The skipper is the leading run-scorer for MI in this IPL so far. Martin Guptill and Jos Buttler are two overseas batsmen with high betting odds in their favor.
Mitchell McClenaghan, with six wickets, is currently the highest wicket-taker for Mumbai Indians. Though the Kiwi fast bowler went wicketless against the SRH, he should be the bowler to bet on against the RCB. Tim Southee is another Kiwi bowler who is getting better with every game. The pacer took 3 SRH wickets and has earned high betting odds for the upcoming match. Money can also be wagered on Jasprit Bumrah due to his wicket-taking ability.
With Gayle, Kohli, de Villiers and Watson forming the top four, RCB is perhaps the best batting unit this season. All these batsmen are in good form at the moment and have the ability to win games single-handedly. Skipper Virat Kohli top-scored with 79 off 48 balls and will be a safe bet to make the most runs against MI. AB de Villiers has scores of 82 and 55 in two games and is a favorite to hit a half-century in Wednesday's fixture.
With the ball for the RCB, it's going to be Shane Watson who is the most experienced bowler in the side. The Aussie allrounder has taken four wickets in two matches and is a great bet to finish with the best bowling figures. David Wiese was expensive against the Delhi Daredevils and is doubtful for the upcoming match. Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal picked up two wickets against SRH but has an economy rate of over 10.
Both the teams will go into this match with defeats in their previous games. Mumbai Indians have won only one of their four ties while Royal Challengers Bangalore have one win and one loss in their two fixtures. So the pressure to break the shackles and win will be more on the MI. RCB feature a mightier batting line-up but a relatively weaker bowling attack. If MI manage to restrict their batsmen, they will be in with a good chance. But considering how the two teams have fared so far in the tournament, it appears that Royal Challengers Bangalore will have an edge over defending champions Mumbai Indians.
Betting odds for Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bangalore, IPL 2016:
Mumbai Indians - 2.28 ; Royal Challengers Bangalore - 1.75
