Our Pick Delhi Capitals are favourites to win
Mumbai Indians will take on Delhi Capitals in the final of the Indian Premier League. The match will be played on the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM local time
After 59 enthralling contests, among 8 top teams, Indian Premier league is finally set to crown it’s champion. Mumbai Indians have already been into five IPL finals, the most by any team and there won’t be any butterflies in their stomach but for Delhi Capitals, it’s already a feat to cherish. This is their debut final appearance and they’ll give their best shot to rewrite the history books. So who’s the favourites to win the match ? Well the betting world is in splits with both teams getting equal share of votes as the winner of the prestigious trophy. Well, we must admit that Mumbai and Delhi were the two best teams of the competition but their journey to the finals was way different. Unlike Mumbai, who cruised throughout the tournament, Delhi really had to earn their place in the final two. Delhi’s road to the final was a combination of two extremes. In the first half they dominated the tournament with 5 wins in 7 games while in the next 7 matches, they could only manage to win 3 games.
There was also a time when Delhi was playing a knockout game and a loss could have ended their campaign even before the playoffs. Mumbai on the other had a consistent run in the league matches, winning 9 of the 14 matches. Mumbai as a team was dominant with each and every player of them contributing to their success. For Delhi, their batting didn’t perform exceptionally well, especially in the later stages of the tournament. Shikhar Dhawan and Marcus Stonis looked a class apart but rest of the batsmen were not quite up to the standard. Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant were the biggest disappointment of all. The promotion of Marcus Stoinis however looks like a masterstroke that Delhi could have tried earlier. As a bowling unit Delhi is second best to Mumbai in terms of quality. Coming this Tuesday, there is nothing that separates the two teams on paper. While most people would like to pick Mumbai as a winner of this match, we would like to go in with Delhi Capitals. Not because they are playing any better cricket but from match one, this year looked like Delhi Capital’s year. This is the best they’ve ever played and they won’t let go this opportunity with ease.

The uncertainty of the dew factor makes it a tough decision for the captains. If there is dew, batting second will be an advantage if not, it could prove costly.
While there have been isolated rains in some parts of UAE, weather in Dubai will be clear for the match.
The match will be played at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai. It’s obvious that the pitch at the ground will be exhausted after so much cricket and won’t offer much pace for the batsmen to work with. The slowness of the pitch will make chasing very difficult but dew could play a major role in the outcome of the match. If there is no dew, without a doubt teams should bat first, else chasing would be the most feasible option.

Mumbai has a pretty settled unit and will go in with the same playing XI for the final of IPL 2020. Mumbai however are sweating over the fitness of Trent Boult who picked up an injury in the first qualifier. While Rohit Sharma after the match said that Boult is doing fine, the extent of the injury has not been disclosed by the Mumbai Indians management.

Both teams are evenly matched on paper and would leave no stone unturned to capture the title.
Both Delhi and Mumbai have been the two best teams of the tournament and in a big game as final, the team that handles their nerves better will emerge victorious. For us, we would like to back Delhi because Shikhar Dhawan has looked really good at the top and he’s one such batsman who can single handedly take the game away from thee opposition. Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje can trouble the Mumbai batting but the pitch, due to its slowness will assist the spinner and in Ravichandran Ashwin and Axar Patel, Delhi have a better and more experienced spinners in their team. It’ll still be a very close encounter but Delhi are slightly ahead.
