The 2022 Pakistan Super League begins on Thursday evening at the National Stadium Karachi with Karachi Kings taking on Multan Sultans in the season opener. Karachi Kings finished in 4th place in the group stage last season and were eliminated by Peshawar Zalmi in the preliminary play-off. Multan Sultans finished 2nd in the table but went on to win the competition. Read on as we preview this game. The fixture begins at 19:00 local time.
Karachi Kings never really got going or strung together a run of wins last season but they will be very motivated to take on the reigning champions in this match.
As PSL title holders, Multan Sultans will now be the team who everyone else wants to beat. They will be looking to carry through the momentum from last season’s victory.

Babar Azam’s side will be without England’s Chris Jordan and big-hitting West Indian all-rounder Romario Shepherd for this and the opening matches of PSL 2022 as both are in Barbados for the five match IT20 series at present. Mohammad Amir had asked to leave the franchise at the end of last season but was then convinced to stay.
The Kings stumbled towards the end of last year’s PSL and were fortunate to even make the play-off stage.
