Big-hitting Welsh-born Englishman Philip Salt was one of Islamabad's four overseas players for the first game against Lahore Qalanders, but with Wayne Parnell and Ian Bell among those therefore left out he will need to find runs if he is retained this time. Rumman Raees was another overlooked last time out, with Waqas Maqsood preferred, but Islamabad could be unchanged after winning that game.

Luke Ronchi hit five half-centuries in last season's tournament, including one in the final, on his way to a tournament-high 435 runs in 11 matches. He started this year's tournament in good form too - hitting 27 from 17 balls at the top of the order last time out.
Faheem Ashraf also picked up where he left off last season too. He took 18 wickets in last season's tournament - no other bowler took more - and started this season's with 2-24. Faheem then struck 23 from 11 balls to lead Islamabad to victory.
Cameron Delport contributed with bat and ball too, taking 1-12 and scoring 24 last time out, having previously been at the Bangladesh Premier League with Chittagong Vikings.
Asif Ali, meanwhile, was in big-hitting form in the National T20 Cup in December and hit an unbeaten 36 from 19 balls to continue that last time out.

Entering this year's tournament as defending champions, Faheem Ashraf took 2-24 as Islamabad United restricted Lahore Qalanders to 171/8 in the opening game. In reply, Faheem hit an unbeaten 23 from 11 balls and shared an unbroken 59-run stand with Asif Ali (36* from 19) to lead Islamabad to a five-wicket win.

With James Vince away at the Big Bash, it was Tom Moores who opened the batting last time out but he may be pushed down the order after scoring just one from six balls. More economical bowling is needed, as well as more runs from the middle order. They may feel they already have the personnel for the latter, but test-match specialist Mohammad Abbas is one of their bowling options if they opt for changes there.

If there was ever any doubting Shoaib Malik remains a key player aged 37, he proved it with 52 from 28 balls against Karachi Kings last time out. The captain hit five fours and two sixes in his breezy innings.
He is one of two hugely experienced players in this side, with Shahid Afridi the other. Afridi was a big part of Comilla Victorians' Bangladesh Premier League success and remains a danger with bat and ball.
Laurie Evans scored 49 last time out, meanwhile, having hit a century in the Bangladesh Premier League prior to linking up with Multan Sultans. Another Multan Sultans player to have starred in that tournament, meanwhile, was Andre Russell - whose all-round contributions helped Dhaka Dynamites to the final.
Back to the PSL, and Chris Green's 3-32 with the ball justified his inclusion last time out - preventing what could have been a mammoth target - even if it did still prove out of reach.
Junaid Khan was more expensive, but on his day his death bowling will be key too.

Multan Sultans lost their last four matches in last season's Pakistan Super League and have now lost their first game of this year's competition too. Chris Green's 3-32 against Karachi Kings helped to slow the first innings after an explosive, record-breaking opening partnership. But, in reply, Laurie Evans' 49 and Shoaib Malik's 28-ball 52 were not enough as they finished on 176/9.

In the second game, Luke Ronchi top-scored with 58 in a total of 185/4, before Islamabad bowled the Sultans out for 152 - Samit Patel, Faheem Ashraf, Amad Butt and Shadab Khan each taking two wickets.
