Who will win Ireland vs Namibia, Womens T20 WC Qualifier 2019?
Qualifiers last time out, Ireland start their latest campaign against Namibia at Arbroath, Scotland, on August 31. The live action is scheduled to start at 14:00 local time.
Ireland qualified last time out but failed to win any of their four games in the main tournament and will face stiff competition this year after losing three of their five completed games at the Quadrangular Series in the Netherlands.
They are expected to start with a win, however, against a Namibia team who finished runners-up in the Africa qualifier but took their place at this tournament on account of Zimbabwe’s ICC suspension. They are very much among the outsiders as a result.

IRE Women Team News & Playing 11
IREW Team News
Having experimented with their batting line-up in the Netherlands, Ireland have named the same squad for this qualifier with the exception of Hannah Little – the one unlucky player to be culled to cut the squad to 14. The line-up fired best against the Netherlands, while the bowling was excellent in the final game. It could therefore be a mix of those two teams that faces Namibia.
IREW Key Players
Lara Maritz: The 18-year-old medium-pace bowler finished the Quadrangular Series by claiming 3-4 against the Dutch, helping her to six wickets in three games in total.
Gaby Lewis: Another of Ireland’s rising teenage stars, Lewis hit 71 against the Dutch in Deventer and finished the tournament with 65* against Scotland. She has four WT20i half-centuries in all, from 33 matches.
Kim Garth: Impressed against the West Indies with four wickets and scores of 46, 51* and 45 in the series in May and has continued that of late – her last two innings have seen her score 47* against Scotland and 57 against Papua New Guinea.
IREW Team Form
Ireland have had plenty of opportunities to hone their skills since the last Women’s World T20. They faced West Indies in a home series, and lost 3-0, and then headed to the Netherlands for the Quadrangular Series. They won two matches there, but were unlucky not to win a third after posting 213/4 against the Dutch before the rain came down. They ended on a high, however – a nine-wicket win against Scotland led by Gaby Lewis’ 65* from 39 balls.
In their warm-up for this tournament, Kim Garth hit 57 in a total of 147/6 against Papua New Guinea, before they restricted PNG to 77/7 in reply.

NAMW Team News
Only Maryke Short is missing from the team which faced Zimbabwe in the final of the Africa qualifier. There are some new faces in the squad, however – Petro Enright and Merczerly Gorases joining the touring party.
NAMW Key Players
Irene van Zyl: Took eight wickets in four games during the Africa qualifier, at an average of just 6.75 and with an economy rate of 3.60 runs per over, to lead the Namibian bowling attack.
Adri van der Merwe: Averages 35.23 in WT20I cricket, aged just 17. The opening batsmen faces more balls in low-scoring games and has batted against a lot of lower-ranked opponents, but has still built up some decent batting form.
Kayleen Green: Took 2-22 in the final against Zimbabwe and then claimed 3-26 against Scotland in the warm-up match for this tournament. She averages just 9.85 with the ball in WT20I cricket so far – though that, and her batting average of 23.50 features a lot of games against lower-ranked opponents.
NAMW Team Form
Namibia reached the final of the Africa Qualifier, beating Kenya and Uganda thanks to Irene van Zyl’s excellent bowling and sealing their progress with a comfortable ten-wicket win against Sierra Leone. They were outclassed in the final, however, reaching just 64/9 in reply to 114/5.
After qualifying for this tournament in the light of Zimbabwe’s suspension, they fell well short in their warm-up match against hosts Scotland. Kayleen Green took 3-26 but Scotland posted 170/3 and restricted Namibia to 86/7 in reply.
