There were four changes for India Women ahead of their second game of the tournament against Malaysia Women on Monday afternoon as Smriti Mandhana, Pooja Vastrakar, Sneh Rana and Renuka Singh Thakur were all rested. We expect some of these players to come back into the side for this match.

Sabbhineni Meghana hit her first WT20I fifty against Malaysia Women and shared an opening partnership of 116 with Shafali Verma. Meghana was dismissed for 69 from 53 runs with Verma hitting 46 runs from 39 balls. Keeper-batter Richa Ghosh made an impressive 33 not out from 19 balls.

IND-W Bowling

Rain interrupted Malaysia Women’s response to India Women’s total of 181-4 and there were only 5.2 overs bowled. Opening bowlers, Deepti Sharma and Rajeshwari Gayakwad, both took a wicket with Meghna Singh bowling only two balls before the game was halted.

IND-W Form

India Women have made a good start to the competition and are targeting their third successive win in this match.

UAE Women

Although it was a poor batting display from UAE Women against Sri Lanka Women on Sunday, the bowling was particularly impressive. The margin of defeat was only 11 runs (DLS) which represents a very good effort in their first game ever in the Women’s Asia Cup.

UAE-W Batting

Keeper-batter Theertha Satish hit the highest score of 19 runs from 19 balls at the top of the order in Match 4. She hit two fours in her innings with only skipper Chaya Mughal also hitting a boundary in the score of 54-7 from 11 overs. The strongest partnership was 15 runs for the first wicket.

UAE-W Bowling

16 year old left arm medium pace bowler Mahika Gaur and and 15 year old spinner Vaishnave Mahesh both took three wickets against Sri Lanka Women. Mahesh dismissed three of the top five batters and conceded only 15 runs from her four overs.

UAE-W Form

UAE Women have won two of their last five WT20Is but put in an encouraging performance against Sri Lanka Women.
