The match will be played at Maharashtra Cricket Association Cricket Stadium in Pune and is scheduled to start at 7:30 PM local time. With the winning momentum on their side and the advantage of playing in their own backyard, India will start off the series as red-hot favorites. Sri Lanka, the defending world champions in this format of the game, are coming from a horrible tour of New Zealand. They could only muster a solitary one-day match victory against the Kiwis in a tournament that featured 2 tests, 5 ODIs and 2 T20 Internationals. So will the Lankan lions pose a threat to a confident team India on Tuesday? Chances are there, but bleak.

A few injuries in their side have left their team depleted and so a new-look Sri Lanka with fresh faces will be seen battling it out against India on Tuesday. Tillakaratne Dilshan suffered a hand injury and won't be available for the first match, but is expected to join the team later for the following games. He has been replaced by Niroshan Dickwella, the wicketkeeper-batsman who impressed the selectors with his batting performance in the Super T20 tournament. He smashed 189 runs in six matches and his good form makes him worth wagering on. Lasith Malinga and Angelo Mathews have also been ruled out of the series due to knee injuries. Dilhara Fernando has been called in and his experience will provide some strength to the bowling department.

India will go into the T20 series against Sri Lanka as the No. 1 T20 side in the world and will look to win the series in order to retain the No. 1 title. Sri lanka, despite being the current world T20 champions, are clearly short of the requisite firepower to challange a team that is already on a roll. Thus, team India takes away all the odds and are undoubtedly the favorites to win the 1st T20 against Sri Lanka.
