Hobart Hurricanes are favorites to win

HBH vs MLR T20 Prediction & Betting Tips, BBL 2020

Hobart Hurricanes and Melbourne Renegades will both be looking to get back to winning ways as the 2020-21 Big Bash League returns with their match at the Blundstone Arena. The two teams meet on December 19 and the live action gets underway at 11.10 local time.

Hobart Hurricanes won two matches in a row, with James Faulkner and D’Arcy Short finding some early form, but they lost to Adelaide Strikers last time out – unable to defend 146 all out. It was their first defeat of the season and means they sit second in the table.

Melbourne Renegades, on the other hand, opened the tournament with a win but suffered a huge loss last time out. Sydney Sixers posted 205/4 and, in reply, the Renegades slumped to just 60 all out in 10.4 overs. It was the BBL’s second-lowest total ever, and the biggest losing margin, batting second, in BBL history.

Hobart Hurricanes Team News & Playing 11

HBH Team News

Ben McDermott batted well last time out as he came back into the team. He may retain his place but Johan Botha could be in line for a return anyway. Keemo Paul and Mitch Owen are in the squad and available too.

HBH Key Players

  • D’Arcy Short: Not at his fluent, consistent best yet but the Big Bash batting icon has one big half-century to his name already anyway.
  • James Faulkner: Rolled back the years on his way to seven wickets in three games so far, adding two of those last time out.
  • Tim David: A tidy return of 105 runs from 63 balls so far, across the first three games, have bolstered the Hurricanes’ middle order in BBL 2020

HBH Team Form

Hobart’s unbeaten start ended last time out. After a 16-run win against Sydney Sixers, and the D’Arcy Short and James Faulkner-inspired 11-run win against Adelaide Strikers, they could not do the double over the latter. Despite Ben McDermott and Colin Ingram each hitting 46, Hobart were bowled out for 146 and the Strikers secured a five-wicket win.

Hobart Hurricanes Predicted Playing 11

D’Arcy Short, Will Jacks, Ben McDermott, Colin Ingram, Peter Handscomb (c, wk), Tim David, James Faulkner, Johan Botha, Nathan Ellis, Scott Boland, Riley Meredith

HBH vs MLR Dream11 Team Prediction, Captain, Vice Captain

  • Wicket Keeper

Peter Handscomb is nine credits but Sam Harper – at 8.5 credits and likely to be more prominent with the bat in Aaron Finch’s absence – could be the better pick.

  • Batsmen

Shaun Marsh is ten credits and, in Aaron Finch’s absence, will look to lead the Renegades’ batting from the front. Colin Ingram and Ben McDermott were in good batting form for the Hurricanes last time out, while Tim David looks good value at 8.5 credits given the runs he has supplied down the order so far.

  • All rounder

D’Arcy Short is 10.5 credits, while James Faulkner is nine credits. Both are key all-rounders for the Hurricanes, with Short already finding batting form and Faulkner in excellent bowling form. Mohammad Nabi’s arrival for Melbourne Renegades could be key, meanwhile.

  • Bowlers

Kane Richardson is nine credits for Melbourne Renegades and set to lead their pace attack, while Noor Ahmad could be an interesting pick as the teenager gears up for his first appearance too. That leaves 8.5 credits, and effectively a choice between Scott Boland, Riley Meredith and Nathan Ellis.

  • Captain/Vice Captain

James Faulkner’s excellent bowling form and ability to swing the bat down the order makes him a good captain choice at this early stage. Mohammad Nabi will bolster the Renegades’ batting and bowling with his arrival and he could be worth selecting as vice-captain.

HUR vs REN Dream11 Team Prediction

  • Batsmen:Colin Ingram, Tim David, Ben McDermott, Shaun Marsh

  • All Rounder:James Faulkner (c), D Arcy Short, Mohammad Nabi (vc)

  • Wicket Keeper:Sam Harper

  • Bowler:Riley Meredith, Kane Richardson, Noor Ahmad

Melbourne Renegades Team News & Playing 11

MLR Team News

It is all change for Melbourne Renegades, with Aaron Finch unavailable until Boxing Day and Shaun Marsh stepping up as captain to replace him. Mohammad Nabi and Noor Ahmad are available after their quarantine period, while Will Sutherland is back in the squad too. Peter Hatzoglou has retained his place, however, as a local replacement player.

MLR Key Players

  • Shaun Marsh: Started the tournament with 62 from 47 balls in the win against Perth at Hobart, and will want to lead from the front as captain.
  • Kane Richardson: Took 3-22 in the opening game and will lead the Renegades’ pace attack in this match too.
  • Mohammad Nabi: The Afghan all-rounder’s availability comes at a good time. He has the batting ability and bowling nous to make a big impact yet again.

MLR Team Form

Melbourne Renegades started the tournament with a seven-wicket win against Perth Scorchers. Kane Richardson took 3-22 as they bowled the Scorchers our for 130, before Shaun Marsh hit 62 to lead them to victory in just 16.3 overs. Last time out, however, was a disaster with bat and ball for the Renegades. Set 206 to win against Sydney Sixers, the Renegades slumped to 60 all out and a BBL-record loss.

Melbourne Renegades Predicted Playing 11

Shaun Marsh (c), Sam Harper (wk), Rilee Rossouw, Mackenzie Harvey, Beau Webster, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Mohammad Nabi, Will Sutherland, Kane Richardson, Josh Lalor, Noor Ahmad
